Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th April - 16th April 2014]

With Yaya out and Aguerro maybe not totally right for a few games I dont think the Everton match is easy to call at all.

Still cant beleieve Clutzenburg missed that nailed on penalty/ handball in the last minute.

Wonder how many liverpool fans will come out of the woodwork if/when they win the league :p

I don't think I could handle that just because my liverpool supporting friends are so insufferable. Would rather City won it if we can't. However having the semi-finals either side of the liverpool game definitely helps them! Ah well better get used to the idea now.

Really bugs me how Chelsea/city used that excuse all year there squads are more than able to cope with European football whilst maintaining a good title challenge, if we had to our squad would struggle past our first 11 our depth is very weak in comparison to Chelsea and city

Balanced by the no penalty decision from the Kompany challenge on Suarez, fair enough Suarez doesn't have the referee's on his side but swings and roundabouts.

Sagbo's challenge on Dzeko was pretty clumsy as well. I think it would have taken a brave referee to heavily influence yesterdays game what with it being the anniversary of Hillsborough and what the match meant for Liverpool's title hopes. Suarez was very lucky to stay on the pitch.

It's not just a squad depth thing, Liverpool have all week to prepare tactically & physically for 1 game whereas CL teams have 2.
Look at the upcoming Liverpool/Chelsea game, Chelsea play home Saturday evening then have to prepare for and get to AM for the Tuesday night game, then get home, recover & prepare for the Sunday game, Liverpool can just focus on 1 game all week.

Saurez probably should have had a 2nd yellow before that anyway for diving

If there isnt a injury in the Atletico game, Im not sure it makes that much difference.

At the beginning of the season with unfamiliar players facing you, and possibly with new players in your own side I can agree this would be a big factor - but at this stage of the season? Its not like majority of the Chelsea players arent familiar with their Liverpool counterparts.

Tactics are going to chage depending on who is available / current form of each player /bans etc but JM has been tinkering with his squad (like every manager) all season to get the players ready for a top 4 title decider away from the Bridge
The Atletico game is far harder to adjust to imo

But as the replay on MOTD showed, that would have been harsh because Dimichaelis did actually trip him. Of course it's his stupid theatrics that make referees decide against him, so it serves him right. All in all a great game for a neutral to watch, and I think the better team won in the end.

Reading vs Leicester should be a pretty great game tonight!

Leicester already promoted, but wanting to win the league, will be looking for a good result after a 1-4 loss last Tuesday. Reading need to win to regain the last play-off place, looking to bounce back from a 3-1 loss last week. Both teams will be well up for it!

Come on Leicester!
