Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 15th January 2017]

Am I the only person that can't take Phil Neville seriously? There's lots of pundits that talk **** so he's not on his own there but it's the way he tries to be his brother, when he's clearly not very good at his job, that grates.

He normally doesn't bother me - certainly not enough to notice - but last night it was painful listening to him trying to argue his case against Shearer. I was embarrassed for him.

He is absolutely dire, but unfortunately he is one of many terrible 'pundits' the BBC have on their books.

Danny Murphy is a shocker as well.

I don't even want to think about his performances for the Rovers, so to hear his crap punditry really grinds my gears.

Keown is bad as well.

Started with £25 on friday and last night I had an accumulated total of £340. Lumped it all on Real Madrid draw no bet, at around 60 mins. As I got in the car to go back to work, I seen RM went 1-0 up. I thought the bet was as good as won! Especially with the no bet If they somehow conceded. I was nearly sick when i seen the final score.

Just because you think Milner is a 'thug', or whatever, does not mean that players are allowed to make such terrible tackles.

What goes around comes around (as Im sure it will to Rojo at some point)

I dont WANT anyone to get injured, but I have more sympathy for those who actually tackle well in general and get injured by a lout with a pair of football boots on

Milner is always going in hard / heavy so I dont have any sympathy for him when he gets clattered like he did yesterday.

Still dont believe Rooney's tackle deserved a red

always thought murphy was 10 times worse than anyone else, not that much a fan of jenas either

Sorry, do you have any examples of Milner going into challenges dangerously? I genuinely can't recall him doing anything either yesterday or in general.

apart from the fact he made contact with his foot not his ankle

Well it's just as well really that probably explains why Milner didn't have a broken ankle/damaged ligaments and was able to carry on, two footed lunges get red cards even when no contact is made, it doesn't matter if there is intent or not if the tackle is reckless it's should be a red card. Rooney's reaction was to apologetically hold his hand up at the referee he knew himself that it was a bad tackle.

Absolute dross.

Rooney should have seen red for the terrible 'tackle'.

I'm not sure I would class Milner as going in 'hard/heavy' (looool), he is physical, as many players are.

Howard Webb doesnt appear to think so ....stated yesterday he only deserved a yellow

He was continually trying to shoulder barge players in the back on Sunday without any intent of actually getting the ball - shoulder to shoulder is one thing, but Milner seems to specialise in trying to go "through" the player

He gets what he deserves imo

Two yellows and sixteen fouls in the League - not numbers indicative of a dirty player.
