Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 16th February 2016]

The problem with Depay is that we went from starting him every game at the start of the season to dropping him almost completely. No balance at all really. Now he gets maybe 10-15 mins at the end of games, not enough time to do anything really.

Rofl we're losing to a relegation battling team yet again, how does LvG still have a job??

Depay was started constantly until Nov well after his form was non-existant

But hey glad we sold off Hernandez cheap.

Really glad Chicharito is doing so well in Germany, but has no relation to how well he might have done (or not) for us in the EPL

Honestly dont think he would have got anything like Martial has got (and unlikely we would have bought Martial if Hernandez had not been sold)

LVg must go now surely. I can't see any possible benefit to him staying till the end of the season. We have everything to gain by sacking him and getting Mourinho in now as he might be able to turn things around and get us top 4. It is clearly just all down hill with LVG now and I can't realistically see him getting us into the top 4.

I mean it is a stretch to think anyone would but at least getting a new manager in now would give him a head start on next season.

Did people see in LvG's interview the other day, he blamed Paul Scholes for influencing the fans and turning them against him. "Everyone was happy until Scholes piped up and started being critical of the football..." Right-o. :o

We have no idea one way or the other - but from some of what the press are saying Mourinho doesnt want to start until the summer anyway and Giggs wont want to be interim boss again without being given the post permanantly anyway

Unless Mourinho sees loads of negatives from taking over now (taking a broken squad, with low confidence, and not a great chance of Champions League). It could get him off to a terrible start... better to take over in the summer when he can fix the squad, imo. Obviously he could take over now and win out, building confidence for next year, but I think that's fairly unlikely!

That seems to be the case. He'd rather have a cleaner slate in the summer. Getting 5-6 new players in the squad would revitalise things and we can write off this season and LvG entirely, and then move forward.

Though a case could be made for getting him in now, if we don't get top 4 it's still almost entirely LvG's fault.

Edit: Rooney looks absolutely devastated in that interview.
