Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13 - 17th April 2013]

Even the most delusional Arsenal fans now realise that Jack Wilshere is very average and has been completely overrated by a biased Eng media

Aside from the fact Everton are quite good, he's JUST back from injury, no where near match fit, and took whack after whack, not much unfair, just teams have been targetting him all season to put a huge amount of physical pressure on him. He certainly isn't match fit and theres a lot of suggestion that he's back before he's free of injury to help us get fourth.

Two not epic games doesn't make a player bad, nor does two brilliant games turn a crap player into a good one. The best players in the world have crap games, and the worst players have fantastic games. For around 2 years of football across Arsenal and Bolton he has been fantastic in 7 out of 10 games, good in most of the rest and had the odd stinker, like every other top player out there.

No, one good game doesn't mean anything, and while the media over react to everything, thats no where near as bad as fans who watch a single game and conclude a player is crap.

This is the best post I've ever read. You should post more BloodZeed. Much more. If this is the sort of quality content you provide, I can't wait for your next input.

Maybe not completely average but he's hardly "world class" so he does have a point the English media\Sky boys bigging him up, granted he's not the only one .... and even been a Spurs fan I include Bale in this

He dominated Barcelona's midfield like 2 years ago. He's absolutely incredible. He's been and continues to be horribly mismanaged by Arsenal.

Play off's will be impossible to call when they're decided, all the teams are as bad as each other :p

Nobody is in form but that is a bit unfair... These teams are all playing for something. Peterborough, for example have beaten Watford and Cardiff in their last few games, wolves fighting for their lives beat hull tonight... Nobody has the right to beat anyone!

I'm dreading Wolves on the last day... At least it is st home though.

It's true :p

I mean look at Cardiff's team, that is going to get humiliated in the Premiership, so much investment is needed, at least Hull's, Watford's and Forest's teams are relatively young and potential could be met playing against higher quality players.

If Brighton's team gets to the Prem....my word :p

Which 2 years on is still is only claim to fame :/

He's clearly got a lot of potential (as shown in the aforementioned game) but he's also clearly got a lot of fitness issues as well (whether that's solely due to miss-management by Arsenal like you eluded to I dont know as I haven't been following his fitness that closely)

One thing I will say though (and this will stir up quite the debate) is you've several times said you dont 'get' what the big deal is about Cleverley and while I'm not suggesting Cleverley's better than Wilshere (because he probably isn't) what I will say from what I've seen there's really not that much between the two of them imo. To me it's a bit like the Gerrard v Lampard argument of a few years back; Yes the majority would probably agree one is better than the other but for the people who absolutely love one to not be able to see the abilities of the other when they're fairly evenly matched I find a little....odd. Discuss...

Cant comment on Cleverley . need to ask a none united fan what they think of the lad.

Wilshere has only played a handful of games for Arsenal. something like over 50 games in 3 seasons. thats very low due to his injuries.

he was injured a whole season at one point and came back and made a difference in arsenal's midfield.

Would you class him as average?

No of course he's not average, if he keeps fit and progressing he's clearly going to be England's best player :)

Wenger doesnt even need to rely on him like we use to with fabregas and rvp. we have soo much quality in midfield now that i did not even notice till a week ago that wilshere was injured :)

Wenger should rest him and only play him when fully fit. we have Carzola, ramsey, Arteta, podolski and walcott all to pick and choose, and against a crap team, Gevinho can pop on and do a job too!

DM doesnt even like carzola and arteta! he thinks podolski is our best player!

Podolski is handy, he should be given a run through the middle though just to see what he's actually like there. Giroud has had an alright first season in my opinion but we should either be signing a backup or we should be signing another winging and giving Podolski a proper chance up front.

I think the problem I have with Cleverley is that he's nothing special but he also never tries anything difficult. He's content to always play the ball 5 yards rather than maybe trying a more ambitious ball that could create something and I know that's not necessarily a bad thing, obviously controlling possession is a positive but just always shunning potentially being positive for the opportunity to pass the ball 5 yards I find extremely frustrating to watch.

Wilshere just has that ability to beat a man and create something and isn't afraid to fail if he tries something a bit ambitious. His obvious, enormous, issue is his fitness which hopefully won't plague his whole career but who knows. That, and the fact he's a chavvy, mouthy little ****.

Do you not reckon though the difference you're seeing between the two players could in part be due to how their respective managers want them to play? Fergie and Wenger are probably as chalk and cheese as two managers could be in the way they set their teams up to play so I'd say its possible Fergie asks his players to play in a specific way while Wenger may well give his players free reign so to speak to express themselves without as many many restraints....
