Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 15th August 2011]

Torres is looking pretty sharp but the general chelsea squad is looking rather poor. I cant think of anyone but torres that would take a united place at the moment.

Stoke are doing what they can and it seems to be working at the moment. Looking the more likely to score of the two. Chelsea need to invest in 3-4 players by the looks of it. AVB has his work cut out.

Set pieces seem to be crowd the area with six foot plus players, don't see much skill in that. Passing has been really poor when compared to Chelsea's and through balls have been nothing short of awful.

Chelsea have gotten the ball down and tried to play football, Stoke have been typical Stoke, physical and hoof the ball down field or hoof the ball in to the area at any set piece. Boring, dull and has more in common with rugby :o

Chelsea haven't played well, but it's only because they've not got to grips with how physical Stoke have been, Stoke offer very little.

That Walters? looks a pretty decent forward but he's just having to feed of scraps and knock downs that have been hoofed up to Jones.
 
Some teams like Stoke are more effective when they play the long ball, it might be awful to watch but they get results that way. Its up to the opponent to counter the way these teams play.

Yeah, just because I don't like the way they play football doesn't mean it's not working for them, they've stayed in the League. I just think Pulis is a horrible vile human being for the way he plays football :p

I do think they should play more football, as they're all that's wrong with English football :p but it works for them and a side like Chelsea should easily be able to beat them, Chelsea especially as they're a big and powerful side.

I've no idea why they've started Torres ahead of Drogba for this game, he was bred for these type of physical defences.
 
Whatever Ray Wilkins thinks, you can pretty much guarantee i think the opposite:p

I have never disagreed with somoene as much as when he commentates on a game!

It was a foul you blind bat, replay show his legs were clipped as he was moving knocking it out from under him. If anyone dived it was Barton.
