Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 16th April 2012]

Woah City smashed Norwich apart 6-1...dear god, City should have never treated Tevez the way they did...no wonder they are behind Utd...devastating performance from City to get right back into the title race.

Over to Utd now;).

I wish we could destroy teams the way City do. I have no idea how we're ahead of them.

Are you for real?

8-2 v Arsenal
0-5 v Fulham

And that's ignoring the relegation teams we've turned over. And we're ahead of them because they've won only 2 away games in 2012 and one of those was today :o

Yup, I said it last weekend I think, when City are at their best, they are quite a lot better than Utd at their best, but mentality, manager, whatever, City just haven't been able to be at their best, or anywhere near it for far too long.

1-0's all season beat 6-1's for half the season and drawing/losing too many games in the other half of a season.

However, Mancini's trying to push Tevez out is looking a worse and worse idea, a half fit Tevez makes Balotelli, Dzeko and most of the rest of the team look pretty poor in comparison.

Likewise though, this was closer to City playing two strikers upfront, and Tevez's/Aguero's movement and pulling defenders around works so much better than pushing someone like Balotelli out on the wing and far too deep. If you play 4-3-3, you need someone with the speed, movement and ability to push up and get in an effective 2 upfront. Important assist in his first game back, 4 goals in a week in and at least one assist today in his first two starts?

Tevez will be shop front in the summer I would have thought

Yup, a City fan rang in to some radio show and said, might as well play him then let him rot, he can only boast the team and score goals plus add value to his transfer fee, could easily get £25 million for him, shows he is still a class player

Can't see Man U dropping any more points (apart from maybe City), too many teams just roll over before the game has even started, they need to take a leaf out of Wigan's book. The Villa game will be a white wash.

2009/10 Villa beat Man United at Old Trafford

That was a half Arsenal youth team, and the other teams you've done over with similar goal lines are Wigan, Wolves and maybe Blackburn. City have done that to, Utd, Spurs, Swansea, Blackburn, Norwich twice, West Brom.

Anyone can put 5 past one of the bottom 3, City are what, the only team to do it to TWO top four teams, and a bunch of top half teams, and several relegation sides.

If I've worked it out right, first half of the season Utd won by a 3 goal margin or more 5 times, City managed it 8 times, since xmas and City's form has been worse, they've managed a 3 goal or more winning margin 5 times, Utd have done it twice. So City have won by 3 goals or more 13 times, and utd, 7 times, or City have done it almost twice as often.... certainly seems suggestive of being more capable of "thrashing" teams, not least when you compare who they've done it to, generally speaking much higher up the table teams than Utd.

There's circumstances behind most big victories, I didn't see the game but it was said earlier in the thread there wasn't a 1-6 difference between the two teams so I'm guessing Norwich fell apart when City scored their 3rd and 4th goals in quick succession. City beat us 1-6 when we were down to 10 men so for me that's no different to us putting 8 past a weakened Arsenal side.

We put 5 past Bolton away whereas City only won by one goal in the same fixture, we also beat Fulham 0-5 away in a fixture City threw away a two goal lead and ended up drawing 2-2.

And 4 to match Suarez. What's your point?

I think his point is, Welbeck AND Suarez are rubbish in front of goal, which is generlaly not a great trait in a striker.

West Ham already 2-0 up against Brighton, slim chance of automatic promotion at this point but they seem to be making a go of it at home for a change.

I edited previous post, maybe before you saw it. As far as I can tell, City have won 13 games by 3 or more goals compared to 7 times for Utd, and City have done it against on average much better opposition, two against the top four, including Utd.

Utd effectively beat what would equate to a Arsenal team with 4 players sent off, incomparable. Utd played for the most part, a first team, Arsenal played a joke team, completely joke team and City utterly dominated the game before the sending off and after. We had pretty much four recognised starters at that point, of which only 2, maybe 3 were "in form" and we had a player sent off also.

lol what?

The hammers 3-0 up now - hopefully we can finally get that home win :D

It's West Ham, they can totally blow it still :p But yeah, looking good so far, really good. To be fair that, was it Barnsley win they felt a little more confident and played the ball WAY better than I've seen them play in months, more passing, more good football all around the team really and they seem to be carrying that confidence to a home game finally. Of course that is my impression from highlights for a change rather than full game, highlights can give a stupidly different idea of how a game went.
