Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 17th September 2014]

One unlucky miss and he's the worst signing ever. I've literally never heard of a more downbeat, miserable person than you.

I didn't mention that strike making him the worst signing ever, you did so that makes you the most downbeat miserable person here.

he was gifted likely his easiest chance of the game, he fluffed it.

What's Torres's cost got to do with Man.U's current plight and them playing QPR at home in a game they should win especially considering the outlay they've just had?:p

:)

You answered it yourself - the outlay mentioned is 1/2 of what Chelsea splurged on Torres (in and out),

At the very least its roughly the cost of ADM + Blind (or exclude ADM , and its all the other players we bought this summer compared to the utter failure Torres was at Chelsea).....as that seemed to be the basis of your whole post:D

Just as we saw last year, failure at Man Utd, is intolerable.
.

Last year just isnt comparable.

I admire Man Utd for trying Moyes (homegrown manager etc etc) and I still think 1/2 the problems of last year would have been resolved with Gill still at the top instead of Woodward.

THe fact is though, LvG is completely the opposite of Moyes in everything that matters to Utd. Everywhere he goes, he has had success - even if its taken a while to accomplish (or at the very least 2-3 months of horrible results followed by a lot more promising ones , which potentially could see the end of top four over here but the promise will still be a good indicator which Moyes never really got in continuity of games).

There is also the other question of IF LvG was to be fired after the 1st season (or less), where else is there to go. Who of the same calibre would touch Utd. They would also want £150m of their own to spend - which at that point may not be possible (depending on a lot of factors of course).

My word that was unlucky by Welbeck earlier and loving how Sanchez is playing today.

Just like that though we are 0-1 down. We really really needed to be ahead when playing well.

Arsenal, well done, pathetic. No genuine threat despite a weakened City, at home. City have looked meh in central mid not good in general but Arsenal haven't created anything at all.

Welbeck has a couple of times made runs without making any looks back, seen both Ozil and Wilshere while moving waiting for Welbeck to actually look around to be ready to receive the ball and a move break down. He's won a couple headers that went straight up in the air.

Ozil and Sanchez both doing what they've done so far this season, nothing. Ramsey thinking he's better than he is, poor cross on the break not long ago, poor shooting from range when there was no reason to shoot with better options to pass on. No delivery or penetration down either wing, no overlapping fullbacks which may or may not be tactical but more than neither Ozil nor Sanchez have attacked the wing in a way that a fullback could help. BOth get the ball and head inside, or stop any attack and look for the pass central.

Thank god we didn't waste money on a left back, it's not like the goal and their next best chance, and most of their chances, and most of the top fours chances against Arsenal last year all came through our left backs like they didn't exist. :(

But apart from that, good performance from Arsenal so far? :p

:p

Just lifeless, I said as soon as we bought Sanchez, too many players looking for the pass in behind into the box, not enough players to get the ball there and make that killer pass.

Sanchez is a slightly older, Chilean Walcott, they play almost identically. Ozil is just a huge huge huge girl and awful on the wing, Caz is awful on the wing.

When everyone is fit for what is striker, two wide forwards and two attacking central mids we've got eleventy billion players, no way all of them can start, and severely lacking in quality in DM, LB, CB cover and striker. but we spent another 46million on two players who will both end up playing wide for most of the season when Giroud is back and starting upfront.

Wenger's utterly absurd fetish of having a team with no cover at defence and 15 players for each wide position of which few are genuinely suited to the position.... brilliant.

We've just had Sanchez take a freekick and go for goal and Ozil try a 30 yard shot as well.... at their best neither player is good at those things. Ozil had Welbeck in the box and didn't even try to get the ball to him instead trying something he's just not capable of. Likewise we have a couple big CB's, apparently Welbeck is big and strong so that is another body. We have players capable of dropping that ball in a dangerous area but with no real chance of scoring so why is he shooting.

All game long the players are making the wrong choices, Ramsey is shooting from wide or slowing attacks rather than driving into the box.

As I was typing we got another freekick, where Sanchez did put a ball in but it was shocking, it fell to Ozil outside the box, he shot again and it wasn't dangerous. Seriously why does almost every player on the pitch seem to be playing to their weaknesses and ignoring what they are good at.

Ozil's main skill is through balls. There is so little movement he can't do that at all. I think 4-3-3 isn't suiting arsenal.

Well the first shot he took welbeck was making the right run, he was running diagonally across the defender, he absolutely could have been passed in.

Just then Monreal breaking down the wing gave it to Ozil, Ozil with a player coming in to tackle him just cut it inside without looking and gave the ball away. It was purely because the player was coming in so he wanted rid of it. He does that a dozen times a game, instead of trying to ride a tackle or flicking it past, if a tackle looks like it's coming he gets rid of the ball. 42mil and he gives the ball away cheaply rather than even try to play around a tackle or a player on the wing. :(

Oh look Ozil takes a freekick in which he tries to put it in the box and it was the best freekick we had. Why are we pretending Sanchez is a freekick specialist who can score from 30 yards... he isn't. Likewise he's not even great at crossing, Ozil was the only sensible player to take them all.

Debuchy is nuts, lucky to be on almost, he did a clear as day handball that was a clear yellow card and the ref gave the foul but no card.

EDIT:- identical performance to every other game this season. NO penetration, no fluidity, slow as hell movement. When we do get a break Ozil or Ramsey kill it with some stupid ass shot or pass. for the love of god moron, stop playing Ozil or Cazorla on the wing, they are literally awful on the wing. It's a tough call with how poor Ramsey and Ozil have been this season but with Ramsey picking up a knock I would have dropped him played Ozil centrally and put in Pod or Campbell wide.

Without even everyone back we're already playing the "lets play the big names rather than the right team" game, add Walcott and Giroud into the mix and Wenger's teams will be even more ridiculous.

Do you even watch the game DM or just watch a small section and then spend 10 mins writing a furious wall of text about it and miss everything else inbetween?
