Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 19th April 2018]

I would agree with the Hughes part, however, why did the board think it logical to appoint a manager that has taken a club with PL players into the relegation zone? It is baffling, equally why Stoke would replace him with Paul Lambert who has hardly a good track record in the PL.

I suspect he was just best of a bad bunch. It was a suicide mission from the off really, I doubt decent managers were queuing round the streets. Hughes had at least just spent 3 seasons with Stoke getting good finishes. The other point to consider is that the decision making was never logical from the outset, otherwise Pellegrino would have been sacked in November.

The whole Kompany watching the game in his in laws house was just as bad. City put out a tweet showing his reaction to the final 30 seconds of the Utd game and he was sat there pretending to be nervous while some old woman was singing to a baby :o

That's probably a typical match day for Kompany now as he spends two thirds of the season injured. :p

Ok, this Kane golden boot thing is getting silly now. Kane's just had a great chance to play Son in for a chance on goal, he refused the pass looking to get a shot away himself, won a free-kick on the edge of the area and despite having one of if not the best free-kick taker in the League in Eriksen, Kane takes the shot?

He's a selfish *****, I didn't really like him before and I'm not sure why, but now I can't even give him the benefit of the doubt :D

Not sure why the ref kept play going so long to half time either, would have been scenes if Son had scored at the end!

Most strikers are selfish but it's reaching a point where his personal achievements are being put ahead of the team. 0-0 and you've got a free-kick 20 yards from goal and Eriksen's not taking it? We had a free-kick at the weekend and even with it being suited to a left footer and Salah clearly wanting to take it, Trent a 19 year old kid, wouldn't let him take it.

He knows where the goal is though

even with the cup semi in mind that's a strange selection from JM - trying to "throw" another game by playing those he doesn't like / completely unfit game wise, in an awkward away game.
