Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 17th Jan 2012]

Abysmal is way over the top. He made one mistake in that Liverpool game and after that he was ok and the same against QPR.

Which was the mistake? The penalty or the way he got turned by Carroll before that? City were lucky Liverpool decided to park the bus second half and not further expose Savic, he was there for the taking the other night

I've not rated him as highly as I did at Arsenal. When he pushes on he looks worse then he did at Arsenal. Might be more to do with the way City play though.

I'd be surprised if the Swansea match was overly highly scoring, admittedly Arsenal have a lot of defenders out but both teams play a huge amount of possession football, Swansea staggering so and the match between the teams earlier in the season finished 1-0.
They've conceeded a grand total of FOUR(!) goals at home all season in ALL competions including pre-season - that's fewer than any team in the country, probably better than any team in a major european league/division tbh.

The penalty was the key mistake and he got turned, you say that as though it has only ever happened to him. Watch any game this week and you will see defenders get turned.

After that he was ok and will learn from that mistake.
He should have ran out and headed it rather than try and kick it but with that massive cut on his eye i dont blame him for being a bit nervous.

Tough away game at Millwall today. Our away record is complete useless, but I'm hoping we can turn that around in this match. We need to be winning these games instead of just relying on our home form.

JASON EUELL IS BACK!

Some great signings for us in the last week - Billy Knott from Sunderland *could* be a great loanee, seems to be very highly rated. Moncur from West Ham will be interesting..

With Port Vale having numerous injuries I'm quietly optimistic that we might get our first league win since October! :)

Well this is the typical style of game we would draw, I hope we beat Stoke and that Carroll has a good game.

Let Bellamy start if his knees are up to it if were winning bring on Downing for him.

a few weeks ago only BARCA had conceded less at home, dont know if that is still the case.

To be honest I thought it was a home game for us, they are significantly less good away. But they've also had a pretty good run at home, AFAIk the only "top" teams they've played at home is Utd in their poor spell, and Spurs last weekend.

Now, clearly Swansea have some credit in Spurs not being at their best, but Spurs also partially just weren't having a great game.

Second half of their season is likely to be quite different as they face Pool, Arsenal, City, Blackburn, Newcastle, Chelsea. They've got a huge number of above average to very high scoring teams to face, so far they've had it pretty easy.

Weren't Spurs one of the inform teams when we played them?

You were very lucky to get a win in the Emirates against us, as were UTD at the Liberty. Both wins from 2 sloppy mistakes.

we weren't inform, we should've (should've would've could've etc) beaten you as 1. we didn't take our chances, could've scored 3 (should've tbh) and 2. your goal came from a friedel mistake but it's a tough place to go, can't be too gutted at a draw. well, yes i can actually as if we'd have won, we'd have been 2nd, same as if chris foy hadn't ref'd our game at stoke and king hadn't gone off injured at newcastle, we'd be top. oh what could've been :p

We will have to agree to disagree then as I felt we deserved atleast the draw. You had the better of the first half, but we had enough chances of our own in the second, including the block from Walker and the goal line clearance. We made a few changes to our team due to the Villa game 2 days later.

By all accounts our team...

---------------Lindegaard---------------
Rafael---Ferdinand---Evans---Evra
Valencia---Carrick---Scholes---Nani
---------------Rooney
-------------------Welbeck

Subs: De Gea, Giggs, Fabio, Pogba, Ji-Sung, Berbatov, Hernandez

Bolton are playing their second choice keeper who up till now has looked arguably the worst keeper the worlds ever seen :p
