Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 17th Jan 2012]

Why are people assuming were even thinking of saving players for City? That game is 11 days away! They could be rested in the Prem game before the City match not 11 days early

Rested? I'm suggesting this is a warmup formation :p

Slightly OT but anyone remember what the badge on the sleeve was for on this shirt

Got a knock in training, he technically wasn't ready those few weeks ago either according to the previous reports from Fergie and what he said at the time.

He looked a lot more ready than Scholes did last week. Frustrating that all our positive midfielders get injured leaving the sideways masters. Also is there a midfield in the world less mobile than Scholes and Carrick?

You're as bad as Nickg with his Smalling up front with that one aren't you ;)

Another alternative which looks a bit better?
---------------Reina
Carra-Skrtel-Coates-Enrique
Johnson-Henderson-Adam-Downing
--------------Gerrard
----------------Kuyt

Come on you have to admit that most of Scholes and Carrick's passes are sideways or backwards, nearly all of Scholes were sideways when he came on last week (including the sideways one to the City player for their goal)

Nothing is going to make that look good. I will of course reserve judgement on that first 11 but i suspect a very hard to watch cringe worthy game >.<

Not surprising is it?

Carrick hasn't been bad lately if we're honest, I guess Scholes is Gibsons replacement as the scapegoat along with Carrick. Let's just watch the game.

Carrick hasn't been too bad but he still looks terrified if anyone closes him down, and the last thing he needs is someone slower than him alongside him. Carrick looks fine when someone like Anderson or Cleverley plays with him, but Scholes or Giggs? Trouble.

It's hard to think of a reason other than Fergie's favouritism for why Scholes has come back in and started/come on when he is way off match fitness, even Giggs would make more sense.

But then Giggs has been playing quite a lot lately, so perhaps isn't fully up to it either.

At the end of the day we don't know what's gone on in training, if Giggs has looked a bit tired with playing so much etc. If we had Clev & Ando fit and he was playing Scholes then it'd be a bit suspect but it's not that far fetched right now.

I cannot ****ing wait for Lucas to be back and fit.

On a positive note for a change.
Its interesting that some of our best youth prospects (Sterling, Suso) were doing the warmup with the first team today in full playing kit , despite not even being on the bench. Great to see our youth players more closely integrated these days :)

What a crocked midfield for lack of a better term; A defender on the right wing, a right winger in the middle and a central midfielder on the left wing.
