JBcommentator: Confirmed LFC team v Stoke - Reina - Johnson, Skrtel, Carragher, Coates, Enrique- Henderson, Gerrard, Adam, Downing - Kuyt

--

.......................Reina
............Carra....Skrtel....Coates
Johnson........Gerrard...Adam......Enrique
.......Henderson.............Downing
......................Kuyt

mmm, not good :x

Worst Team ive seen us put out this year tbh! Apparantly Agger is injured no surprise there it was coming. Why didnt Kelly just play over Carra at least with him there we either get an own goal or gift Stoke a penalty plus Him and Skrtel are not a good pair imo.

Kuyt hasnt scored for yonks so how he fairs up front on his own will be interesting. Stoke will love that team.

:(

Agger's picked up another injury... :(

Hopefully its just a tiny knock, so he's more rested for City rather then too injured to play .. if you get what I mean.

Alternative team layout?

...............Reina
Johnson...Skrtel...Coates...Enrique
...............Carra
...........Gerrard...Adam
Henderson..................Downing
...............Kuyt

Still terrible, but still.

-edit-
Some educated reasonings for the selection
- we played 3 at the back last season v stoke, and it worked wonders playing from deep
- Bellamy needs to rest for City
- Similarly, Carrol whilst not in good form is still a better option then Kuyt for the city game, if he gets injured then ..
- ... running out of ideas here :p

Still as you said terrible last time Adam/Gerrard played together in the middle it was horrible and if we do stick Henderson out to the right he becomes useless >.<

They've conceeded a grand total of FOUR(!) goals at home all season in ALL competions including pre-season - that's fewer than any team in the country, probably better than any team in a major european league/division tbh.
Firstly, it's five if you include pre-season friendlies.

Secondly, "all" competitions is a bit of a liberty, given that they haven't played any cup games at home this season (they went out at Shrewsbury in their first round in the LC, and won against Barnsley in the 3rd round of the FA).

Thirdly, now that we've narrowed the stat down to it actually being 4 goals in ten league games at home (which is still an impressive stat, bettered only by Bayern Munich, Barcelona* and Udinese in the main 4 leagues), the teams they've played are:

Wigan
Sunderland
West Brom
Stoke
Bolton (3-1)
Man Utd (0-1)
Villa
Fulham
QPR (1-1)
Tottenham (1-1)

They've done well to only concede a goal each again Spurs and United, but there's a lot of quality they still have to play. Not that I'm knocking Swansea's achievements, mind. The fact they're doing so well after having played most of the tough teams away already, should be a good sign for them.

*0 goals against them at home in La Liga so far. Against 39 (thirty-nine!) goals scored. Insert your own "joke league" comment here.

Who knows, I do not like though

It just seems like Fergie has blamed him for the Blackburn result (something he never does) then dropped him for 2/3 games. What the **** does he think he is doing? How is that going to affect his confidence?

Scholes starts today....just wtf. So much for him improving our squad depth, I knew he'd come back and start again. And Fergie's reasons?

"How can it be regressive? You're getting a player for nothing who's been part of the club for 20-odd years."

Well by that logic Fergie lets get back Irwin too, good to know the only requirement is that you have to have played for the club for a long time and be free. Seems current ability has **** all to do with it.

Re Liverpool formation
Alternatively, 3 at at the back is a conscious decision to counter stokes punt it long style?
Stoke go one up top (Crouch likely) then play 2 CB's and let the third (Coates) man mark him.
Stoke go two up top, then let the 2 CB's mark them and let the third CB look out for runs through the middle.

Other then that, we don't want to risk an injury to Carroll? so he can't play, Spearing hasn't recovered in time and Bellamy needs to rest for City, so unfortunately the rest picks itself =/

Everton: Howard, Neville, Heitinga, Duffy, Baines, Donovan, Fellaini, Gibson, Drenthe, Cahill, Saha

Subs: Mucha, Gueye, Vellios, Anichebe, Stracq, Billy, McFadden

Saha & Cahill  Arrrrghhhhhh!!! Other than that, class to see Fellaini and Drenthe starting!

Kind of imo highlights why we need to bring in some better quality i.e Good Winger/Good Striker who will actually score for us atm.

That formation doesnt explain not using Kelly, He didnt do full 90 last game and imo even if he did play full 90 he hasnt played much this year so should have started.

Given that Everton have no decent strikers, I can see it being 90 minutes of teeing up long-range Gibson punts from anywhere between the edge of the box and the halfway line.

Why are people assuming were even thinking of saving players for City? That game is 11 days away! They could be rested in the Prem game before the City match not 11 days early
