Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 19th August 2015]

I don't think playing quick tempo attacking football is unrealistic at all. For the sake of argument if Guardiola was the manager I'm sure the quality of football would be much better.

Quick tempo attacking football and Guardiola? his tactics consist of passing the ball around midfield for 20mins and only attack when the opposition get bored and fall asleep. :p

You mean the same Guardiola who has been criticised for turning Bayern into a boring team to watch? Really?

Yes, really.

We've literally just signed one of the most proficient set piece scorers from last season, what more do you want?

Fair enough, we have Depay and Schweinsteiger who can make a difference now, I was just pointing out something we've been missing. But it wouldn't surprise me if LVG sticks Rooney on free kicks.

Fantastic goal, danny will be unhappy.

Lukaku fantastic so far this game in his running, moving and great header. Kone also fantastic. Kone was actually good last season, out of form but good movement. Bang on about him being crap because he hasn't played, not because he's played badly.

EDIT:- I'd put Southampton to win this, probably still win it but Everton look pretty decent here, dangerous up front and Kone/Lukaku are looking an improving partnership.

Classy finish from Lukaku. Stekelenburg perhaps should have done better, though.

Good to see Barkley playing well again.

Everton playing well over most of the pitch. Lukaku had been in and out, they are saying he's unplayable but there has been more than a few instances that Lukaku hasn't made a run at all. I think Coleman was running into the box and LUkaku who started 20 yards ahead(about 15 yards outside the box maybe) of Coleman stood almost entirely still as Coleman ran outside then put a ball in. Mostly though he's been excellent, not sure if it's just a fitness thing, going a bit quiet after longer runs for a few minutes.

Kone's movement, workrate and interplay has been good. He looked very capable with Wigan and I think could be very good for Everton if he stays fit, just got unlucky to get a long term injury as soon as he joined the club.

BT though, has anyone noticed BT seem to be putting in a LOT of effort to heap praise on referees? I mean beyond there being a good decision and mentioning it. From the start of the first game last week every 5 mins they talk about how great the ref is doing. It's like they are being told to mention every good decision as often as possible.

Schneiderlin!

Yup, he's been one of the best players in the league for two years but as also shown for Utd and for the years with southampton he's entirely willing to burst forward in an attack or if he sees the chance to nick the ball higher up the field. He's not like a Makelele type, he's a pretty well rounded midfielder.

Any team would miss him, interested to see Clasie when he plays and if he's a good replacement or not.

Clasie was completely ineffectual for the half game he managed against Vitesse before doing his hamstring, hoping for serious improvement on that

Surprised by how well we've played today, 3 goals a d fingers crossed an actual clean sheet.

Kone played very well, defensively I was scared a bit with him though lol. Our back 4 were a rock, and cleverly was useless as always.
