Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 19th October 2011]

At HT and you have to say Sunderland were shocking for most of the game yet could easily be going in with the lead.

Keeper and RVP aside there seems to such a lack of heart and direction in this Arsenal team.

****ing hell typical crappy defending by Arsenal...dominated the game up until 20mins then went off the boil and let Sunderland back into it...Sunderland should be up 2-3 goals by now.

Its no wonder RVP doesnt want to sign a new contract if this is the utter crap we come up with :/.

Meh stuck a tenner on Arsenal to lose so if that happens ill have a bit of money to spend on myself lol :p:D

Saying that, lots of empty seats at the Emirates...quite liking that as it will hit Arsenal hard in the pocket...fans voting with their wallets lol

Yep those greedy barstewards at City have their eye on him

He's not got too long left on his contract has he? Any news on if he's open to contract negotiations?

Van Persie is a good player, Arsenal's best forward by some distance and would be another massive blow to lose him to a rival, although I don't think City are a direct rival.

Think he has a couple of yrs left from what i last read altho i also read that Arsenal were about to offer him a rather large wage increase with a new contract...whether he signs or not is another question.

Also rumours are that Chamakh might be offloaded in Jan....

He said he didnt want to discuss his contract i think. However he did apparently say that he was committed to Arsenal in todays Match Programme. He must look around the team and wonder where it all went wrong. This Gervinho is being lauded as a great player but he looks like Obertan with dreads as far as i can see. There is obviously some talent there but if he doesnt know what hes doing how can his team mates?!

I dont see the attraction for him to go to City and sit in a queue of strikers to get a game. You could understand him wanting out though.

Indeed and i can now sort of sympathise with Tevez and what he did...hes not happy sitting on the subs bench and i dont think RVP would be happy as well unless its all about money then why not lol.

Funny how I was shot down for saying Arsenal should have gone for Hazard for a bit more money as he's a far superior player :o

Arsenal are a diminishing force, I actually put it down to bad/mis management. Prime example would have been this summer, if Arsenal knew players were leaving, how come it took them until the last day of the season to do any solid business and those buys were nothing more then panic ones.

A firing squad would be too good for Tevez. His situation has nowt to do with squad rotation its just a man looking for a get out clause. If he was playing every week he would complain about being tired (as he did at Utd) and if he isnt playing he would complain about not getting enough games (as he did at Utd).

I dont think Wenger made those signings.

The man who wouldnt give Pires a 2 year deal because he is over 30 is now supposed to have handed out a long contract to Arteta? Doesnt add up!

Wenger has been a great manager but the key words in that sentence are now "has been" rather than "great manager" IMO.

Imagine the difference a Parker or even (dare i say it) a Joey Barton would make to this team today? Its not a question of money its a question of judgement.

Excuse the pun, but bang on.

Whether or not City show any interest in RVP (which I don't think they are/will) its entirely dependent on whether we get out of the groups in the CL. If we don't its pretty hard to make a case for replacing Tevez with someone of similar quality.

Van Persie could go to a dozen continental teams in the CL who want a quality striker, he'll get sold at the end of the season and Arsenal's demise will be almost complete.
