Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 19th October 2011]

I think you have already replaced Tevez. Kun was signed at a time when Tevez was expected to leave.

The Tevez situation is a joke. He says "I want to leave" so you sign a striker to replace him. He then doesnt leave and complains when said new signing plays instead of him! What did he expect to happen? Tell Aguero to sit on the bench till January when Tevez will want away again?

There isnt a player i have more hatred for than Carlos Tevez. I would rather United lined up with Fred West and Josef Fritzl (both deadly finishers to be fair) up front than have Tevez back.

Oh yeah in terms of a like for like Aguero was his replacement, I'm just referring to the 4th striker Mancini has said he wanted, as we play with 2 up front. However the whole 2 men for every position idea is only really justified when you're in 4 competitions. Without the CL even playing 2 strikers its pretty hard to justify a 4th of RVPs quality when we could fill it with Guidetti or similar.

The Tevez situation is clearly a farce. But at least its a farce everyone else recognises, and its not the club getting it with both barrels. Though I still don't believe everyone's intentions for calling for his head are always in the clubs best interests if you catch my drift.

Aguero is better then Tevez. Said it from the start, still of the same opinion. People mocked me for it at the time.

I like Arsenal, I really enjoy their style of football, I'm a football purist and I think it's the right way to play football. Pass and move. Good pace and good technical ability on the ball.

I disagree in so far as its only good football when there is an end product. No amount of over-passing, no matter how easy on the eye, is justifiable if it doesnt actually win games.

This football masterbation that Arsenal indulge in may be fine to watch but unlike the Arsenal of old and the current Barca team, it is pointless if it doesnt produce results. If football was decided by a panel of judges like Ice Dancing im sure Arsenal would score highly for "technical merit" and all that, but as long as its goals that count they need to mix it up a bit IMO.

Song had to be careful there. Why isn't Webb having a word with him? could have easily seen a second yellow.

Totally agree...its stupidly fustrating seeing such lovely football but no end product...struggle to score goals when we should be banging them in.

I don't think Arsenal should abandon their style of football. It's the right way to play football, pass and move is better in every respect then kick and rush.

I don't know, I think Arsenal were a team that were better then the sum of their parts for a while, I think a few very good players made them look better then they are. You can see now that players that were in those sides just aren't up to the job without the better players, unlike Barcelona.

I think people would like to see City write off a huge amount of cash on Tevez just cos its City. I guess i fall into that category.

I was pleased when City signed him because i thought he was a loathsome character. I was also surprised at the amount of goals he scored. Ultimately i think my original assessment has been correct though!

It does raise the interesting question of how you actually punish a footballer though. If City cut their losses he simply moves on to an equally huge contract and ultimately gets what he wanted in the first place. That cant be right.

FT Birmingham 2 Leicester 0. Great game in the 2nd half, the 1st half was like watching paint dry. Overall very pleased with our game and a great 2nd goal from Wood.

Maybe if you didn't insist on playing Walcott out wide and Gervinho out wide with Van Persie on his own you might score more goals :p

Arsenal were always a poor man's Barcelona before, they were still a very very good side though. They're now a poor side trying to play like Barcelona.

I think if you look at the quality of player Arsenal had when they were winning and even a couple of years ago and compare it to now there is a huge drop off.

RVP aside as he has just shown again.
