Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 19th October 2016]

Rumours kicking around that Martial and Mkhitaryan aren't with the squad for tonight. Zlatan starting is a given and Rashford probably will too so either Mata or Lingard on the other wing, neither of which are ideal. Never gonna happen but I think i'd rather even Rooney played on the wing than Mata and leave him in the #10.

Jesus, if the reported lineup is true then Mourinho is going for it. Mata, Pogba and Herrera in the middle? Those players all want to occupy the same space basically.

Young. :p

No Wijnaldum and Lallana only fit enough for the bench so the Liverpool 11 is: Karius, Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Milner, Can, Henderson, Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, Sturridge.

Not sure if we'll stick with the 4-3-3 and move Coutinho back into midfield or if we'll got 4-2-3-1 with Can sitting alongside Henderson.

Not that big a surprise. You're going to look to put cross after cross into our box with Fellaini and Pogba coming in on the back post, and Young's more suited to crossing than your other options.

Yes, it looks like we're going for crosses/set pieces, while defending a fair bit.

You always were going that way. Set-plays are going to go a long way to deciding the game - you've got 4 massive targets in Pogba, Fellaini, Ibra and Smalling and we've only got Lovren and Matip to stop them.

I'm slightly surprised Klopp didn't got with Origi over Sturridge tonight to give us a bit more height.

Odds on Fellaini getting sent off? ;)

100000/1. He never gets sent off no matter how many times he elbows the opposition, in particular against Liverpool.

I remember a Liverpool Everton game where he got away with 4 elbows, 2 of which came in the space of 5 seconds.

I don't mind Young, but we seriously could have done with a midfield 3 today consisting of pogba/herrera/carrick

If anyone is going to break that 38 second record its Fellaini :D

Yes I know that was from the start of the second half but even so

I mean Young has basically tuned into a spectator for the last year and a half, he barely starts any more, yet suddenly he's important enough to start such a big game? You would presume he's been chosen to get crosses in...but guess what, we've had these big players all season, why only now? It's such an LvG type lineup, always a few baffling choices.

Because you're playing a side that struggles against balls into the box. Crosses into the box is a percentage game so if you're playing against inferior sides you're better off trying to out play them, particularly if they've got a tall back 4.
