Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 21st December 2016]

There is two feet, but it seems very harsh as he's already landed and cleared the ball before there is any contact.

Think it's more two footed because he's off balance, but there was nothing reckless about it.

Either way, Pawson needs to go back to refereeing school

Chelsea looking ominously good, last few games haven't been blistering performances but grinding out wins.

They're also ridiculously solid at the back, always a good sign for a potential league winner.

Also, lol @ Costa's yellow :D

Efficiency springs to mind

Seems it is a grind these days though to win the EPL ;)

That's exactly what I thought on first view, he seems to stretch for the ball but the pressure from Johnson causes him to go through the air. He's nowhere near the other guy coming in.... seems harsh to me.

get rid of Rooney for the love of god

Martial should have got the nod instead to add some much needed pace to the side (admittedly at least Lingard has some , but still)

I mean it's a two footed lunge how can you argue it's not a red. As soon as you jump in with two feet like that you're asking for it.

The 'lunge' part is meaning, you're running at a player and lunge at them. His actual intent was jumping alongside Johnson, he wasn't lunging at a player ahead of him.

With Johnson alongside him that tackle was zero danger to Johnson... the person he was tackling.

What makes a two footed tackle dangerous is all the weight going through your feet, which is why it's dangerous when you're running straight at someone then do that, as Rojo did both times. That can easily, easily break a leg. Alongside a player, no problems. He's tackled Johnson, another player has got caught on the foot(so low) after the tackle has been made on someone else after Vardy is down and not anywhere near excessively dangerous.

Wait for lindgard to fluff a load of passes and crosses and calls for him to be subbed by half time. Having a bit of pace isn't enough you have to be good at football too...

I said at the time of Rooney finally being dropped that you have to see what happened. Maybe Rooney didn't kick up a stink because Mourinho said something like you've been a bit off form, have a rest for a month, then I'll give you games again, or after some rest you'll definitely get some starts if maybe not the biggest games.

Rooney was god awful in that Palace game, but Palace would certainly be a game that Mourinho might have felt he had to play Rooney to keep him happy.

He shouldn't have started against Palace, his performance showed that, he played him way longer than he should have and is starting him again. Not good signs in terms of simply dropping him completely which his form/current ability level deserves.
