Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 22nd August 2011]

If it went against us id call offside, i think it is fair to say it was.
Isn't it any part of your body that is offside that can score a goal you are deemed offside? He influenced play, but oh well, we had enough luck going against us last week.

Yes, but the covering defender also had two touches after that, and Ramsey had a touch too :p

I don't think it's as cut and dry as some are making out, put it that way.

Only Gervinho, Wilshere and Song.

I'm not counting Gibbs because every single supporter knew Gibbs would do well to manage a full game.

edit: Dante, how is Ryo missing from the starting 11? Surely you need to have played for the team, before being classed as a first teamer?

Gervinho, Song, Gibbs, Djourou, Rosicky, Wilshere and Diaby are all missing for one reason or another. We also players on the pitch who were also missing. Missing the ability to play football.

Yeah but he wouldn't have had to make any of those touches in that way if Suarez was there and would have been more calm, influenced play too much.

Not that i'm complaining after the farce of last week with the fat **** phil dowd and his linesman.

The neutrals who likes watching Arsenal because of their style will need to find a new team. Without Fabregas they look shocking!

Jesus the knee jerk reactions in this thread already from people and the Arsenal fans are even worse. Haven't Manu started badly in the last few years and had their fans right off any title hopes after 3-6 games.

People saying Arsenal mid table etc, get a grip for ****s sake.

What an ungratefull bunch of ****s. Why can't you just get it in your heads you don't have the money to compete with the signings others are making and be happy with a manager get the best out of what you have.

Wengers not spending 30million on a player because you cannot afford to build a team with a few of those players wages.

I hope they eventually force wenger out and you get a manager that spends big and puts you in financial trouble. Your damn lucky you got to keep wenger when he could have left when your club saddled him with the stadium, stopping him spending. Now you want him out.

I hope he goes to city or Manu.

FT Arsenal 0-2 Liverpool

Despite the win I'm very worried about the season ahead. That starting 11 isn't good enough to get us in the top four so if Suarez picks up an injury and is out for any length of time we're in big trouble.

That Arsenal team was one of the worst we've played in years yet we never looked like scoring until Suarez came on. Yes we kept possession well but the lack of movement, pace and creativity in the team is extremely worrying given the amount of money we've spent. It's also incredibly frustrating to see the likes of Meireles on the bench and Aquilani not even in the squad. Please don't tell me Henderson and Adams are better than those two because they're not.

Kenny did a fantastic job in the second half of last season but this is his team and it hasn't impressed me one bit so far.

Reina - Nothing to do.
Kelly - Fantastic game and begs the question, why didn't he play last week?
Carragher - Nothing to do.
Agger - Nothing to do but having him back in the team and fit is a massive bonus. Has a calming influence on the back four.
Enrique - Great in defence and fantastic in attack. Deserved MotM.
Lucas - A few rash tackles but looked the most composed player on the ball and coped with everything Arsenal threw at him.
Adams - Looks like a world beater with time and space but as soon as he's closed down he struggles. Would be concerned having him in the team against the better teams.
Henderson - Anonymous? One for the future but we've got much better on the bench.
Kuyt - Not a good game. Left Carroll completely isolated up front and didn't link up play well. Starting ahead of Aquilani? :o
Downing - Looks like a very good signing. Quick and has a fantastic cross on him but his game relies on Carroll playing well which he didn't.
Carroll - Focal point of every attack so when he struggles, as he did today, the whole team will struggle. Doesn't look like he's suited to the lone role so either play a second striker or drop him.

*Awaits BaZ to rip my post to pieces* :p

Jamie Redknapp is ready to crack one off right in the studio, its quite embarrassing. You just know he wants to mention something about going for the title :p

"And yet the performance was one of pride."

"The record books will suggest this was a solid away win but the applause that greeted the home team as they went off, and the songs from the stands throughout, smacked of something different.

If you can have pride in defeat then this was it. Arsenal lost the game - and we know what will follow that - but they have not lost their spirit."

Arsenals fans have every right to question there team like you do with yours, I sense its fact Arsenal have made same mistakes for years which Wenger hasnt fixed and signings may help that expensive or not.
