Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 22nd August 2011]

You haven't got 100 million for transfers, just the same as when Ronaldo was sold, United fans on here kept doing the simple math. £80m for ronaldo and our usual £30-40 million OMG we have £110m to spend. The money dissapeared.

I was under the impression you had a debt to pay off.

You have a budget for the season which will include wages, you cannot simply add up all the money thats come in and not think about wages and debt to come up with what you can spend.

To think you have 100m for transfers is ludicrous.

Not really. We made £50m before tax last season, that included the massive reduction in debt. Similar amounts this year? Maybe. Fabregas, Eboue, Clichy transfer fees are added.

I think you're underestimating them though. We missed Wilshere hugely. Not saying we don't need to spend, but the mid table comments are absolutely retarded.

I'd be very surprised if Arsenal finished mid-table, it's unlikely.

What isn't so unlikely however, is them finishing 6th/7th, and that isn't going to be good news at all.

It will all come down to what players Wenger buys (if any). At the moment, 4th will be pushing it.

Its Everton you support isnt it? (Dont re-call sorry) If so or its any other club if you sold a big player for lets say £40m you wouldnt expect ANY of that to go to transfer funds?

Even if you do have a season budget for money you dont know who might go in Jan till Jan or summer for instance.

It didn't, they JUST spent it. People are daft, Arsenal may not have spent a huge amount on transfers, but we've spent HALF A BILLION on wages in the past 5 years. Wages trump transfer fee's, every time. Which is why Utd spent big when more than just Ronaldo's wages were off the book.

You also forget that they have cash in the bank, and that generates a decent amount of interest every year, which with their debt repayments was important. Same goes for Arsenal we had decent money in the bank.

Arsenal have plenty to spend, as always the problem is Wenger completely unable to judge who is good enough anymore. I mean, honestly the fact that Diaby/Rosicky haven't been sent packing is proof enough of that, buying Theo mk 2 when Theo mk 1 has been an utter waste of money, etc, etc.

QPR goal, ****ing load of ****. No urgency from the players, no one is closing anyone down, just stand around waiting for something to happen. Really unorganised, just woeful.
