Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17 - 19th November 2012]

on the bench as well. Giggs should have played midweek, play the better midfielders for this one.

I don't mind rotation, but when we have Cleverley, Ando, Powell and Fletcher(kagawa aswell really) who would ALL perform better in there in any game, why is he playing an old man who doesn't have the ability anymore? I just don't understand it.

He plays a half team and calls it rotation. Any time it looks like we could have a proper tram out, he sticks Scholes or Giggs in the middle and calls it 'experience'. No, just ******* no. Experience does not make up when you are 39 years old and the guy you are playing against is in his prime. If he was 32-34 he could get away with it.

I'm getting sick to the back of my teeth with this crippling nostalgia Fergie has developed. Do you see Chelsea holding onto Lampards ahead of Mata, Oscar or Ramires? No, they realise his day is done in a league that is physically tougher than others.

AVB got his subs (considering our options) right today. he hasn't always.

the problem is, if he wants to persist with gallas, the high line needs a rethink.

Gallas is passed it but who replaces him as captain? He is great at being vocal and encouraging the team.

Then we have AVB's substitutions where he dropped in a defensive player to try and hold a slwnder lead. This is almost chicken and egg. Since february that team has been devoid of xpnfidence and losing. The team naturally sits back rather than going for the throat. AVB hasnt manage to get the team confident (which is a problem) but instead he tries to mitigate the damaging effect of sitting back by strengthening the defence. This hasnt worked.

So the flaws i see in avb is the inability to inspire and today he took too long to make a change.

In his defence his team is ravaged by injury and poor transfers. He also can play other formations other than 442 which i like. Finally, who would replace him? I think youre lookibg at moyes or benitez. The season is not screwed yet. I would give him more time and try and make some quality transfers. If it doesnt work out then at least he had a chance but judging him on the hard start, poor transfers and injuries is premature.

Edit- i dont think that there is briliance in avb; he is not SAF, Ancelloti or Mourinho, but the replacement optuons available to us are hardly inspiring either

Maybe you shouldn't turn games off after 30 minutes. Wouldn't class myself as a supporter if I done that.

I've supported them for 20 years but it's got to the point where if the team can't be bothered to play for their fans, why should the fans bother with the team. It's just been one dire game after another since January. It's not down to the quality of players, it's down to the management and the mentality of the players and Daniel Levy needs to sort it out. Replacing Harry with AVB hasn't had the desired affect and we're still where we were 10 months ago.

Pretty appalling so far, nothing learnt from last week at all. We need to learn to start games at the start, not when we go 1-0 down.

Valencia has been atrocious in attack and defence, Young has been slightly better (good effort towards the end in particular). Giggs aside from that pass for Van Persie has been poor. Carrick has been much better than last week though.

Van Persie and Hernandez might as well have sat down and taken it easy for the first 40 mins, just nothing getting near them.

Kagawa is injured otherwise it's almost certain he would have started.

Yes, he's injured is he not? Plus, look at AvBs time at Chelsea and see why he left...

Judging by the stats Saints must have been all over QPR today, 15 shots on target and 13 corners.

Yep! We were absolutally all over then like a bad rash, they had 3 on lambert and still couldnt deal with him. With Lallana, puncheon, gaston/ Steven Davis and cork they looked a mess at the back, made our comedy show from earlier in the season look acceptable.

Only thins qpr have going for them are cesar and hoillet, everything else was just abismal. Hughes to be sacked by Monday or something is very wrong in football.

Victory curry time! :D

A good summary, however Harry let the team descend into the doldrums, we lost our two vest players and signed some promising replacements. This is a bad patch but it is not one person's fault.

Levy should have sold Modric earlier and just got Moutinho. He took a punt on Siggy and Demspey. They have both turned out to be awful despite their effectiveness last season.

AVB has much better tactial nouse than Harry but cant lift the players. He doesnt banter the to press about how we should sell modric or how he would have to consoder england. He really cares.

Our injuries have coincided with the most difficult games of our season. Our difficult opening coincided with trying to get the team rebuilt and playkng a new formation.

This is more the mess that Harry left than anything else. If we keep 3rd we keep Modric or vdv and we attract better players. Instead the club has broken down under the rennovation that was required.

Well to be fair, looking at the Reading and Everton game stats, Everton were all over Reading but couldnt manage to beat them. Reminds me of some Arsenal performances where we dominated the game but still ended up losing or drawing the game.

Reading had something like 39% possession for the whole game:eek:

Yes he's injured, that doesn't exclude the other 3 all being left out.

Clev also played 60minutres or so mid week so understanding he's got a rest.

Fletcher hasn't played in the league this season - we don't know how his condition is holding up at the moment and he's generally saved for Europe/Cups at the minute as it's not quite as fast paced etc.

Anderson who knows, could have just had one too many pies during the week but should have started really out of any of the ones mentioned.
