Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 19th September 2011]

If I were in Torres' position I think I would feel physically sick after missing that, although he did play very well today.

Chelsea seem to be growing into the season, in each match so far there seems to be a marked improvement from the previous. Whether this is attributed to the new players/manager settling, I don't know, but it should get more interesting as the season progresses. Based on this performance I would expect Chelsea to take the 3 points in the reverse fixture.

AVB seems to be doing a pretty decent job too, not afraid to make changes. Also his english is excellent which actually makes his post match interviews worth watching.

To be fair, you'd expect to win all your home games so not too surprising, if you listed them and you had beat at least 1 away then it would be a REALLY good start. Still, you can't make up your fixture list but if I'd predicted results before hand I'd see you beating all of them

Damned by faint praise!

Our start has been awesome by anyones standards.

Jones and Young are looking like International class players every time they pull on a red shirt.

Entertaining match. Would have been really interesting if torres had scored that second but oh well.

Chelsea have definitely improved every match and the season's long.

Fulham fans doing the Poznan was one of the funniest things I've seen.

Total game of two halves, Fulham were absolutely **** in the first. Took going 0-2 down to turn up. Dembele was absolutely fantastic, easily the best game he's played for us. We were lucky to not have scored a couple more too!

I think we put down a marker today.

Everyone said "yeah but wait til you face a proper team"

We dismissed Chelsea 3-1 and the concensus seems to be all about how well Chelsea played!!

Great win. Plus Chelsea (by default) drop points and so do Liverpool and City!

Carlsberg dont make days..........

Chelsea weren't exactly bad but they weren't great either.

Sturridge spent most of his time in the right midfield position not doing an awful lot, Torres was his usual self and their defence kept switching off.

While much of the time we may have had less of the ball, we were far, far superior when we did have it, and even though we didn't always get shots away, when we did they were punishing ones. To think this is all without Vidic/Rio as well is just great.

I'd seriously like to see Berbatov starting with Rooney though, I don't care what people say, he's a class act and very dangerous when he's playing well. He didn't look too bad today, though it's a shame he couldn't bury that late chance.

So wish Ledely King had good Knees. Just imagine how good he would be for Spurs and England if he could play week in week out, could have been an England great.

Apparently he doesn't train with the team, apart from 10 minutes on a Friday for tactics yet can play like he did today.

I love Berbatov. I also rate Owen as a good signing.

Thats squad depth for you! For the record where is Owen or Berbs twitter bitching about the boss like Saha did............???

Oh yeah.......class.

That miss aside today he played well his movement was good, his passing was sharp and he can lay people off and set up goals fine, he looked great until then. That finish as well was sublime as bbc sport said he took that goal without thinking about it for once, that's what seemed to be different.
I hope he recovers and gets some form because he is an unbelievable striker when he gets going.

If Berbatov had missed the same chance and lost 1-3 what would the reaction be?

If Berbatov fluffed the same chance the reaction would probably not be as bad but bear in mind he was nearly £20m cheaper and has scored plenty of goals for Man UTD. Torres has been out of sorts for a couple of seasons now and you'd expect a £50m striker to put away the kind of chances he's routinely missing, there were 3-4 chances in todays match that the Torres of old would have tucked away with ease.

How the hell wasn't Cole sent off? Not even for the red that should have been on Hernandez, but at the very least two yellows!

Weird game today, on the surface of things Chelsea on another day could have easily got a draw or even won with the amount of chances they had but I guess we'll never know had they taken at least 1 of them how we'd of reacted, we could have easily stepped it up another notch, scored again and really closed the game out. Personally I took more satisfaction from the 5-0 at Bolton than the Arsenal game or today's

Plus points though are that we've beaten another so called title challenger, Nani scored a great goal and had a brilliant game against Cole and City dropped points leaving us with the only 100% record left in the division
