He slated wenger and the board in public saying how the club and manager do not have any ambitions whatsoever.
that is it in a nutshell.
The problem here is, he didn't slate the board and he never claimed they didn't have any ambitions, so as usual you are completely and utterly wrong.
RVP's statement
"As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss and Mr Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club's future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.
"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days
"Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don't want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal should move forward.
"I've thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.
"I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch.
"I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last eight years. As soon as Mr Gazidis is back from his two-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments."
Now where did he disrespectfully slate Arsenal, or claim the club have "no ambitions", he didn't do either. You're wishing an injury on a player for saying something YOU MADE UP.
You don't think RVP did this for more money? Of course he did or he wouldn't have come out with all that guff about it meaning little to go elsewhere and win. It's a convenient line to peddle out because Arsenal wouldn't pay him what he would get at united. It's his last contract and tbh he has to look after himself but it's no different from Rooneys comments to engineer more money.
The only difference is United caved in, Arsenal didn't or couldn't.
Anyway this thread isn't about RVP and it's a done deal.
Again, he also didn't say anything at all about winning things elsewhere meaning nothing. He said nothing more or less than his MAIN ambition and his dream is to win things at Arsenal..... this is no where near saying winning things elsewhere means nothing. For instance he also wants to win a world cup and euro's, you think that means nothing because its not for Arsenal.
Again I'll point out that quote was from SEVEN DAYS before we lost to brum in the rubbish cup final...... three days before Wenger played Cesc in a pointless game against Stoke 4 days before their first final in donkeys years, in which he got injured and missed the final, a few months before he sold Cesc, Nasri, Clichy. number 1 option, win everything at Arsenal, number 2 option, win everything elsewhere, he only ever stated what his first choice was, nothing else.
As for what he should do in a final Jonny, he scored, that's what he did, he got injured while scoring and as usual Wenger left him on for some 40 minutes after that, which left him more comprismised for the second leg of the Barca tie. However RVP played well, got a goal then struggled on for near enough half a game with an injury, who else did more for Arsenal that day, no one.
