Really poor challenge by Brown. Full on Ramirez' ankle.

Ramirez and Lovren both stretchered off at the same time. That's what you call bad luck.

Realistically, horrendous 2 point drop for Southampton, if they'd conceded 2 after they lost 2 players maybe, but from the second goal they just got consistently worse, didn't take half time to settle themselves, and were completely rubbish in the final 30 mins or so.

They switched off after 2-0 up and couldn't switch back on.

Apart from he won the ball? How was it a really poor challenge? Oh hang on, I've just seen your location.....

After watching that game, I only have one question....how in the hell does that useless lump Altidore still get game time? He is so poor, Borini is a much better option up front. If I was a Sunderland fan, I would want Fletcher and Borini up top together for the rest of the season.

But he won the ball, marra!

Jumping in from behind when you WILL smash through a player, regardless of if you get the ball, is a bad challenge. Sliding past a player, getting a ball and the player coming over the tackling player is a good tackle, Brown did not do that, and pretty much looks like Brown was off the floor making that tackle, it's a completely awful tackle and should have been a freekick straight away and a definite yellow for me. Need to see another replay of how far off the floor he was, how two footed it was, could have deserved a red.

I've not seen the tackle, and most of the time I don't like judging challenges from a picture. However, there is absolutely no way he could have got the ball before crunching Ramirez in that picture, looks like a horrific challenge.

Toon unchanged for today's game:

Newcastle: Tim Krul; Davide Santon, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa; Cheick Tiote (c), Vurnon Anita, Yohan Cabaye; Moussa Sissoko, Loic Remy, Yoan Gouffran

Hang on a second, are you saying he didn't get the ball?

No, he got the ball. Call me wierd, though, but if your tackle ends up potentially breaking someone's ankle, I'd call that 'really poor' regardless.

It doesn't matter if he gets the ball if it's dangerous play.

I think there are situations in which you can get the ball first, and then follow through with high studs. If you're trying to clear it, connect with the ball, and then follow through into a player it might happen. However, based on that picture there's no way that's what Brown was doing.

I've got sympathy for Terry in the above one. The ball's bouncing, and that's the only way he can realistically win it. The other player (is it Milner?) is just too quick for him. It's a yellow, and maybe a red for me.

Coming in from behind is totally different, though. You're not going to win the ball by going through a player.
