Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19 - 21st October 2012]

Not the greatest performance from Liverpool today (not the worst either) but still should have won by a cricket score. Thankfully we managed to keep a clean sheet and one was enough.

Sterling and Johnson were probably the stand out performers but credit to Brad Jones too - only really had one save of note to make but done the basics well and dealt with long balls and crosses into the box towards the end of the game excellently (which is unusual for him).
and he's just uneccessarily lasered the ball at Mata.

It was quite fitting how Mata mugged him at the end to kill the game off.

Yes! A relief to finally get a win this season especially against a team you don't expect to get points from.

It is great to get the win, it's what we need! Although as harsh as it sounds, I want us to lose a few more, get Hughton out the door!

this is arsenal, even a pub team can expect points against arsenal

Grow up. Yes Arsenal had a bad game but they're still one of the big 4 and very few teams expect to get points from them.

Well played. You more than deserved it

Nice to see a fan who is graceful in defeat. Yes Arsenal didn't play well but there is a huge difference in the quality of the players in each side and Norwich fought hard to close that quality gap.

I still dislike Hughton as a manager but for Norwich's sake I hope he does well, I much prefer watching MoTD over the Football league show ;)

3 wins in 8 games is god damned pathetic, 3 draws, 2 losses. 10 points off the top already, 6 points off 3rd, and only 3 points ahead of a really pretty woeful Liverpool....

But its okay, Mertesacker makes us look MUCH more solid at the back..... its got nothing to do with who we played when he was in the team before or anything, he's just really good.

Today.... I don't even know who to say maybe had a good game, Jenks wasn't terrible, Arteta didn't really do that much wrong, nor that much right.

Gervinho is utterly hopeless, Giroud didn't do much at all but had very little of the ball, Gervinho had a crapload of the ball and did nothing with it. Ramsey just hasn't progressed at all since his injury, and is worse than before his injury. He's insanely inconsistent with maybe 3-4 worthwhile games a season, the rest being usually below average and his shooting is insanely bad.

Our setpieces are still useless, our defending of setpieces is still hopeless, we still don't have anyone who can take a decent corner and not hit the first man over and over and over again.

The few half decent balls we managed to get into the box there is either no one in there, or they are all far post ot beyond, no one making the near post run, or in the case of Arshavin's cross to the back post, no one made that run, they all tend to stand around in a huddle and do nothing to go after the ball.

Just gash all around, also not entirely fair to judge Gnabry on today as he came on with a team playing rubbish, but in preseason Eisfeld looked by a freaking enourmous margin our most promising youngster, and hasn't been given a look in yet.

Waited too long to make changes, and made the wrong changes, again. Podolski off instead of Gervinho..... seriously? Rather than change the central midfield first or the worst wingers/strikers, we change the best and only really capable ones and leave it far too late for them to get up too speed with the game anyway?

So far we've beaten Liverpool(who had more chances and played better than us but couldn't finish to save their lives), Southampton... who are crap, and West Ham, pathetic draws with Sunderland and Stoke, and the only result you could even call good or above what we'd expect to achieve is a draw with City, and that is FAR more about City being no where near their best than us destroying them. City were gash, and we still couldn't beat them.

Grow up. Yes Arsenal had a bad game but they're still one of the big 4 and very few teams expect to get points from them.

incorrect. Arsenal tend to lose and flop when you least expect them too. every team that goes against arsenal whether its barcelona or Leyton orient, they both can easily beat arsenal.

i dunno what happened to us today. we was out of shape, not bothered etc etc.

Arsenals season come unstuck lolz

Come unstuck suggests it was stuck in the first place, anyone that thought drawing, not winning but DRAWING with two terrible teams like Stoke and in particular Sunderland was a good start, then being saved by Suarez's inability to find the back of the net was a "good start" to the season was deluded.

It was fairly obvious by overall not great play, inabilty to find the net, inability for certain players to play something that resembled football and being helped by the opposition being crap, that Arsenal aren't looking great this year.

Giroud isn't a patch on RVP, who is showing his finishing as well as his all around playmaking is top notch. Again people have randomly decided that because RVP scored loads more, he did nothing else, nor was capable of doing anything else.

While people will bang on about Rooney in that Spurs comeback, it was actually Rooney being on and RVP dropping deeper, RVP got on the ball more, it was RVP's quick passing and he set up a goal and several chances, great crosses. ARsenal are missing the finisher and the playmaker.

As always the frustrating thing is, we have a good team, Wenger won't use it. Arshavin is one of the best 2 or maybe 3 players at the club and can't get a game. Eisfeld is incredibly promising yet can't get a game, mistreating Bendtner and Vela for years meant neither would play under Wenger any longer and did everything they could to leave. Now our lack of strikers, lack of quality wide players is hurting us, and injuries are starting to add up meaning that weak ass squad Wenger has cultivated is going to start taking more and more results off us.

It wasn't injuries that cost us today, it was being crap all over the pitch, we could have put out a better team today, and didn't, we could have made better substitutions and tactical changes, we didn't.

Our mistakes are costing us, we got away with them early in the season, we've been "meh" since day one of the season.

I see DM is coming out with his RvP > Rooney rant, again.

I think we should just make a template for certain peoples posts every week depending on the results of their teams because it's the same old tired crazy record as per.
