I think DM needs to start supporting a worse team, it would make his rants/posts much more interesting.
It's quite simple, and I've been very clear, a team spending 120mil in wages a season doesn't have the same target as a team spending, 80mil, 40mil, 20mil, or half a million down in the lower leagues.
My problem with Arsenal is, Wenger, and his utter inability to learn from mistakes. We sucked all through the game start to finish, we once again took off one of the best players, and brought on the wrong player, we did it at the wrong time. Likewise most of what was wrong with our game, defensive mistakes, set piece inability, defensive or offensive. If Wenger TRIED to fix some of the glaring mistakes, tried new tactics, got rid of the worse performing players, I wouldn't care IF WE LOST. Trying and failing is fine, being satisfied with the status quo while woefully underperforming and making so many mistakes, is not. I've said it so many times, sell Diaby, Rosicky, Song, Denilson and whoever else(theres plenty) buy completely free players, or spend 80mil, I don't care. TRYING and failing is finy, accepting we aren't good enough, and continuing to pay, and give new contracts to players who 100% certainly NOT good enough is beyond failure, its unforgiveable. Rosicky had at best a half dozen decent games, gets himself a new contract... gets injured, everyone else in the entire universe saw it coming but Wenger. How many new contracts did Hargreaves get at Utd after his injury?
Status quo, failure, ineptitude aren't things I think should happen at any club and shouldn't be accepted, not least when Arsenal fans pay more than any other fans in the country.
I don't much care for league titles, they don't suck, but I watch 38x 95mins of football with Arsenal(much more with other teams) weather that time is classfied a winning season or a losing season doesn't actually change that football I've seen. Its entertainment, we aren't playing the best we can, or even close to the best we can.
If its Leed's spending X amount and aiming for play offs, Arsenal aiming for a title, or Torquay ending for anything above relegation.... a team can meet expectations, fail, or surpass them, failing repeatedly isn't good enough, especially when you make no effort to change at all.
It's at the point now where DM's rants reak of desperation trying to convince himself that its RVP > Rooney because he sure as hell isn't convincing anyone that watches the two in the same team week in week out
Desparation, really, that doesn't sound right as when RVP was still with Arsenal, and I wasn't comparing Rooney to anyone, I still said he was average. So am I really, as you say, trying to convince myself RVP is better than Rooney.... even though I've said Rooney is over rated for donkeys years?
Who is desparate, who can't have an opinion without the Rooney defenders all jumping down my throat? It certainly doesn't sound like I'm desparate, it sounds like the desparate rants of English fans who latch onto a player who on the world stage isn't even remotely close to the best strikers or players in the world, and spend entire generations trying to convince themselves a player really is up there with the best in the world.
Its funny, what I saw of Utd today involved Rooney making a lot of fairly meh passes, pushing it sideways, I saw RVP drop deep and do much more interesting and fluid movements with the team, creating lots of attacks, putting the ball on Rooney's head(face maybe?) to tap in at the far post. I also don't remember saying RVP was better than Rooney based on this game alone so even if Rooney was better than RVP today that wouldn't really mean anything. Unless of course Berbatov's hattrick against Liverpool proves he was Utd's best player because of one performance?
