Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19 - 21st October 2012]

For all the talk of Kirkland going down easy from a push rather than a punch, palm of the hand can actually be quite damaging, you could quite easily get a broken nose from that, and maybe he gouged his eyes as well. Typical sucker move against an unsuspecting target and means the hoodlum is less likely to damage his hand as well.

Novel.

Basically, I'll start by saying that the Leeds fans were disgusting tonight. (Their redition of 'Jimmy Saville ***** who he wants, was the nicest thing they chanted all night) The crowd were out of control quite some time before the fan attacked Kirkland.

It started with a chanting, the usual, nothing to bad from either side in what was an already tense and spikey atmosphere, then the Wednesday fans started singing 'Always look on the bright side of life' an entire chorus, which resulted in a huge Leeds surge towards the Wednesday fans in the far corner. Seats, bottles, advertising boards and other small objects were all thrown at the Wednesday fans and Stewards and Police. (I didn't see much thrown back from the Wednesday crowd, certainly nowhere near the level that was incoming) There is always quite a gathering of Police in the corner between away and home fans. The stewards were pushing the Leeds fans off the pitch and the (hilariously so) pitiful Wednesday surge was quashed very quickly.

The riot Police and Police in general were way too slow to react to the situation which was quickly gathering pace. Really bizzare that the game wasn't stopped, a lot of the people I was sat with where shouting for the game to be stopped.

The Kirkland incident was basically down to wee poor crowd control, the Police and Stewards failed to act to control a crowd that the majority of were out of control. There was another guy on the pitch after and abused (or mocked) Kirkland and seats and small items / bottles thrown at Kirkland on the floor and while he recieved treatment.

It was like watching wild animals for the majority of the last quarter of the game. The Police and Stewards were terrible.

That was disgusting, as was Neil Warnock (someone who I've defended on here before, despite me being a Wednesday fan) after the game, telling and encouraging the players to go over and applaued the Leeds fans (he had an arguement on the pitch with Dave Jones over it), I'm sorry but that isn't the behaviour that you clap or condone. It wasn't a minority, it was horrible to watch.

In a week which has seen the English press and FA talk about how disgusting crowd trouble in Serbia is it's depressing to see scenes like that still in English football. I really hope the FA come down on the Leeds fans like a tonne of bricks over this, and the select few Wednesdayites in the far corner that were involved too.

Hillsborough had fences up due to behaviour like that and we all know how that turned out.

Re; the football, I enjoyed the match. I thought Wednesday lacked an end product for most of the game, but played well and for long periods and the game over all controlled it well. The goal Leeds scored was fantastic though, given all the time in the world and hit a beautiful shot.

The referee was terrible for both sides tonight, ignoring fouls, giving numerous throws the wrong way and missing a hand ball despite being very close. Hilariously poor referee.

Utterly disgusted at the Leeds away fans. That has no place in football and I hope they're punished to the full extent they deserve. The Wednesday fans involved in the far corner should be too, but they were few of them compared to the majority of the away end.

More laughed not moaned, but the timing of the comment was not good at all.

The Thing jones needs to realise is that while he does not like the peado chanting, his own fans singing about Leeds fans been murdered is not to civil either.

Hmm. He said after the game he doesn't mind that chanting, he's had it for over 10 years and along with the abuse he gets in general isn't something that bothers him.

He's right about tonight, the Leeds fans were vile all game and in the last quater were like animals. Disgraceful.

Apparently Wednesday fans in the far corner weren't singing 'Always look on the bright side of life', I must have heard more the beat then the lyrics. It's still not an excuse for the behaviour or chants of the Leeds fans over the 90 minutes.

Dreadful songs sung about (false accusations) Dave Jones (Regardless, chants like that shouldn't be sung about anyone) all game and the behaviour of the Leeds fans were still akin to wild animals more then football fans.

Stay classy Leeds

Seeing it on SSN it is pretty shocking viewing. If the FA give all the talk about Serbian crowds then allow this to happen (not racism but shocking scenes) then they are hypocrites. Warwick needs a ban as well, applauding fans who assault players  the guy is a clueless, classless muppet.

Now if something like this happens in the Toon derby I'll be embarrassed :p

Yeah, he's being named and shamed everywhere, we don't want to be associated with ***** like that.

I hate to say it but it's always the same with Leeds. I lived in Munich when they played 1860 and I went to the game and I was embarrassed to be English. War chants, fighting, goosestepping and arrests - never saw anything like it before or after at the Olympiastadium.

Wow you must be getting on a bit!:D

Here we go, I love stereotypes. All clubs have ***** as fans, don't think any otherwise.

Dave Jones wants to sort his comments out, naming all Leeds fans vile animals? **** manager.

Sad to see a repetition of the bad old days again. That animal (the word fan is inappropriate) should be getting a prison term and a message must be sent out with regard to acceptability of fan behaviour. This has to be a harsh one which can only to ban Leeds fans from attending away games. Other words and actions will also need to close attention of the FA. I hope that the FA do not spend weeks investigating this and that retribution is swift.

While I am in no way defending what some of the Leeds were doing, I can tell you exactly what your lot were singing. 'Always look out for Turks carrying knives' to the monty python theme.

Again disgusting vile songs sung about two young men murdered.

I'll start by saying that guy is no fan of football. Leeds have worked very hard to clean up their act, I don't know what they could have done to stop what happened. They were away from home, he's already banned and restricted from travelling on match days. That's enough from a Leeds united perspective.

Disappointed to hear of other match trouble, but concerned too. Where were the police and stewards that are responsible for player safety?

There's never any trouble in the Leeds ground. Perhaps the apes from a bygone era fancied a return to the 80s against a local team. Either way I hope everyone involved from both sides gets what they deserve. That's both those being violent as well as those kicking everything off singing about fans being murdered.

On the football I thought Wednesday deserved a win.

Couldn't agree more .

When it gets to the point where players aren't safe on the pitch , its getting stupid. That guy could have had a knife or anything.

Where the hell where the Police/Stewards?

The FA need to come down hard and fast , as do the Police on this ****
