Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19 - 21st October 2012]

Here we go, I love stereotypes. All clubs have ***** as fans, don't think any otherwise.

I'm a QPR season ticket holder, I meet a lot of different fans - I go to a lot of games. I base my opinions of away fans on what I see with my own eyes. You might not like it but Leeds fans stand out to me as one of the worst I've ever met, and I've met them a good few times and in different countries.

Couldn't agree more .

When it gets to the point where players aren't safe on the pitch , its getting stupid. That guy could have had a knife or anything.

Where the hell where the Police/Stewards?

The FA need to come down hard and fast , as do the Police on this ****

Was it not Sheff Weds fans that assaulted Crystal Palace Players after there relegation a couple of years ago. What punishment did they recieve from that as a club?

And to all the people coming on saying how bad Leeds fan are, while I am not saying we have a great history for crowd trouble most clubs also have this so let us not blow it out of proportion.

I didn't realise we were discussing QPR fans, nice straw man though. Of course all clubs have elements like that but I'm 38 years old and as a season ticket holder I've met a lot of fans and I know which teams are generally worse than others.

Back to the subject, I remember a Stoke fan doing something similar at QPR.

Just had a search and here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euazYRvNog8

I don't recall either way be it Leeds , Man U or my team Spurs if the fans of said team go on the pitch and assault a player the club should be punished severely and if that means taking points off them , to make fans think twice about doing such things then so be it.

I've been to Elland Rd a few times Leeds are fantastically supported, most of them are very vocal which creates a great atmosphere there.

There are always going to be some ****ends that cross the line and they need dealing with promptly and harshly IMO.

In other news COYS:D

While I am in no way defending what some of the Leeds were doing, I can tell you exactly what your lot were singing. 'Always look out for Turks carrying knives' to the monty python theme.

Again disgusting vile songs sung about two young men murdered.

I posted and corrected myself, it was such a small minority in the Wednesday crowd singing I couldn't make out the words. I've had a big discussion on this already but a hundred or so idiots singing a song does not in any way warrant the reaction by the majority of the Leeds away fans. It was utterly disgusting.

I'd happily see the Wednesday fans thrown out on their ear, but it doesn't somehow justify or condone what Leeds did. They were well out of control pre Kirkland and I was amazed the game went on.

I'll start by saying that guy is no fan of football. Leeds have worked very hard to clean up their act, I don't know what they could have done to stop what happened. They were away from home, he's already banned and restricted from travelling on match days. That's enough from a Leeds united perspective.

Disappointed to hear of other match trouble, but concerned too. Where were the police and stewards that are responsible for player safety?

There's never any trouble in the Leeds ground. Perhaps the apes from a bygone era fancied a return to the 80s against a local team. Either way I hope everyone involved from both sides gets what they deserve. That's both those being violent as well as those kicking everything off singing about fans being murdered.

On the football I thought Wednesday deserved a win.

Re; Stewards and Police, the stewards were there fighting to keep the fans on the pitch. I don't blame the stewards as they're on minimum wage getting attacked by Leeds fans isn't worth it. The Police response was laughably slow. You'd have thought with the number of Police at the game they'd have come out sooner, but no.

What good would docking Leeds points or fining the club do?! Why punish all of us for the actions of a minority? The idiots need singling out, it would only create more anger to punish the innocent too

Edit at last some common sense from the reations on soccer am, nice to see some people still have brains

Dave Jones wants to sort his comments out, naming all Leeds fans vile animals? **** manager.

What?

Leeds fans sang utterly disgusting songs ALL game towards Dave Jones, the majority were out of control (try to fight their way to Wednesday fans), he was perfectly correct to call them 'vile animals' the majority of the away fans unfortunately showed the negative side to football.

I don't think all Leeds fans are 'vile animals' but the majority of the away fans were last night, I wouldn't want them back nor would I imagine any other ground want them visiting.

Just because Wednesday away fans or other away fans have acted badly in the past doesn't have any influence on this for people commenting on that either, I full support kicking out those people from football forever, like the guy that attacked Kirkland he isn't a football fan, he's a thug pretending to be a Leeds fan.

The single worst event was the guy that attacked Kirkland was cheered back in to the crowd and people were patting him on the back and celebrating what he did, while people threw objects at the physio trying to treat Kirkland.

Also; referee was terrible for both sides pretty sure I said that last night though.

Terry is keeping the captaincy? Hilarious from Chelsea.

'So... Chelsea fan guilty of racist language: Three year ban from Football and life time ban from the club. Chelsea player guilty of racist language: Mind your own business.'

With Leeds fans having also attempted to confront their Wednesday counterparts in an adjoining stand, flinging bottles and ripped-up seats – debris was also thrown in the opposite direction – and with a number having chanted in praise of Jimmy Savile as well as aiming vicious chants at Jones, the club will undoubtedly face a Football Association inquiry.

Gardner was unlucky to see his shot deflected over, and Bothroyd also went close, but the attention was increasingly on the attempts of a section of the Leeds support to break past the barrier of stewards to confront the Wednesday supporters when Tonge's volley sparked celebrations among the travelling fans – and prompted one idiot to bring shame to his club.

Both from the Guardian reports, it wasn't just a minority of the away fans. It's a massive shame. I don't for a second think all Leeds fans are like this, I imagine that compared to the Leeds fan base this is a very small minority of idiots, but it does beg the question about these away fans getting tickets. Isn't it done on a membership scheme?

The ball boys, photographers and Sky cameramen were removed from the away end for the last quarter of the game because of the problems too.

I'd happily see the Wednesday idiots that sung thrown out too, but the number of them was pitiful especially the Wednesday surge which was quashed within a couple of minutes by a big handful of stewards.

Anyway, less about Leeds last night.

Also; lol at people saying Kirkland went down easy, it shouldn't matter, he was violently pushed (with two hands) to the face, I fully expect all people on here in that situation would have course stayed on their feet.

If you think about it ........ It could maybe JUST maybe help fans police themselves?

If the fans know if one of them jump on the pitch etc etc their club will be docked points due you not think the general consensus in the crowd would have said team would be don't do it as it will only hurt the club.

That **** last night in his own warped mind probably thinks he was doing his club proud

If you look at the video there was more than just him on the pitch acting like a ****end.

Not saying it would work but it's something worth thinking about or debating :)

The odd thing I keep getting told by Leeds fans is that Kirkland went down like a sack of spuds. Firstly, I don't see what that has to do with anything, and secondly, I doubt they'd stay on their feet after being blindsided either. Warnock was the first to say it, which was a shame because he was actually doing well until he couldn't help himself.

Oh, and as for the players not being safe, do you mean from the likes of Brown? How he, Bechio and Llera finished the game is beyond belief. Poor referreeing across the board.
