Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 22nd November 2011]

First time I've watched a game with Neville as the co-commentator, thought he was pretty good.

His comment today about David Luiz made me laugh, it went something along the lines of "I sometimes imagine there's a kid in the crowd playing FIFA and controlling him" (the way he wrecklessly bombs forward trying to take everybody on). :D

Yeah, got a laugh out of me. Bored of hearing him say "Liverpewweel" though.

12 points clear of Chelsea with 12 games played.. well I certainly couldn't have seen that coming.

Really? You've missed the past 3 years of watching Chelsea at all then? TO be fair Terry has gone from rock solid to non existent in the past 2 months.

However before this season started, Malouda, Mikel, probably Luiz, Ramirez, Kalou, most of their right backs aren't even close to good enough. Then you've got Drogba, in poor form and ageing but I think its mostly the chances being made for him are just awful. Torres has just been awful since before his move, he was getting significantly worse at Liverpool before he left and Anelka is getting on a bit and can't get games anyway.

So basically a noticeably worse squad than the thread bare first team squad they've always had, with some of their best players edging into the last years of their careers.

Chelsea's squad, for the wages and amount they've spent is insanely small and lacking quality in almost every position. While you'd take Lampard or Mata over Barry/Milner, you wouldn't take them at this point over Yaya/Silva, there isn't a single position I'd take a chelsea player over a City one, keeper, defence, midfield, upfront.

They could have bought what, Torres 50mil, luiz + ramires about 40mil together? They could have bought 6-7 QUALITY players instead of those three who aren't even close to good enough.

Good first goal from Liverpool, deserved the win too. Chelsea are looking poor

I didn't expect them to be as good as last season. I expected them to be better than a 12 point deficit after only 12 games. Surely even your despondent self didn't think it would be that much :p

If Hughes was still in charge of you and Mourinho was in charge of Chelsea it would probably be a 12 point gap in their favour.

Chelski will have a tough time (in Chelski terms I mean, ie. A fight for 3rd 4th) this season and to be fair I can see them needing major surgery to catch up to City especially and even Manu.

Both Chelski and Arsenal have good first teams but little squad depth few injuries and both would struggle. Liverpool and Spurs have better squad depth than both, if not quite as good a full strength first team. (yes I know Liverpool just beat Chelski but I stand by that)

The rise and fall (more than once)can be linked to essien. When that guy is playing week in week out the team are a joy to watch. When he is injured the team are borked.

well, that was nice. be even nicer if we turn villa over in 24 hours time.

if we win our 2 games in hand, we would go 1 point behind utd. gutted they fluked a win @ swansea even more now. COYS.
