Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 26th December 2014]

Lampard is on the bench.

Palace have started well to be fair - they could easily be ahead.. City haven't got going at all yet.

This Derby defence doesn't look great at times tbh.

On the penalty, it is really unlucky for Norwich, as it was completely 'won' by Martin(in a good way). Really good play from him, but Cuellar was simply clearing the ball. Just one of those things.

2-2 looks a good bet to me.

Falcao - injured for most of the season
Di Maria - Injured for the past 4 games and new in the summer
Herrera - Injured most of the season
Blind - Injured for a fair bit of the season
Shaw - Injured for most of the season

Add into that the fact that we have had Smalling, Jones, Evans and Rafael all injured for long periods of the season and:

A. We have had to make do with mostly the same side as last season yet all of the team looks better under LvG.
B. We have a new manager and lots of new players
C. We never have anything like the same squad out there week to week.
D. Moyes had Giggs, Evra, Ferdinand and Vidic last season aka most of our defence.
E. Moyes had the chance to spend money and didn't for the most part.
F. We are in the top 3, 5 points clear of Arsenal who haven't had pretty much any of the above issues.

Giggs, Evra, Ferdinand and Vidic were all passed there expiry date and no better then smalling, jones etc.

Arsenal have had nearly same amount of injuries as United. We are playing a RB as a CB for petes sake. I wouldnt even use arsenal as a benchmark either as we have been rubbish so far this season.

Your run of form started when your inju'es started ramping up to be fair.

When the season started you started it with one of the poorest starts ever, worse then Moyes and with half the injuries you mentioned, playing together and losing.

Many united fans here have said the lieks of di Maria have been playing average recently.

RVP is only now starting to find his feet(his not a new signing either and should be banging in goals for fun).

So that is why i believe LVG is not doing any better then Moyes at present with the amount of money spent etc.

He like wenger seems to have ignored some of the gaps united needed from 2 seasons ago ie a solid DM and a new CB pairing(jones etc dont cut it)

As they say Navas has no end product at all. How he always starts is beyond me.

That is Navas for you, he is the Spanish Lennon/SWP, fast, you think he should be able to do something with the positions he can get in but doesn't. Terrible buy, though City needed genuine wide players as they have none, he wasn't the right one.

They needed a Robben/Ronaldo type or at least a younger player with potential to be as threatening out wide and as good going past people, Navas just isn't close to enough.

Honestly I'd play Zabaleta ahead of him, just play him further forwards and give Richards/Sagna games in at right back.

Incorrect, also I assume you're talking about Chambers? He's far from just a right back.

Source? He's been injured so he's not actually playing...

Incorrect, signed Blind, Herrera and Rojo. Can't sign an entire new defence over night, look at how other big money DC signings in the PL are doing and perhaps the good players just weren't available?

Subs: Vorm, Chiriches, Rose, Dembele, Stambouli, Townsend, Soldado

Another manager under that fickle rainbow cloud is Padrew. Begining of teh season newcastle fans wanted him gone and now after a few good wins and even a famous win against chelsea, His god. His the right man for the job etc etc.

Now they have lost quite heavily in there past 2 games and now some newcastle fans are asking for his head again.

Now thats the very definition of fickle.

Yeah I'm not quite sure you understand what fickle actually means. Believe it or not there were and still are Newcastle fans (possibly even the majority of them) who believe he's a decent manager, and that his hands are tied etc. Of course they're all mentally challenged but those fans have been that way for a while. So I think you're confusing the fans who have wanted him out for 18+ months with the fans who are happy with the state of our club and him being in charge for eternity.

Also nobody in the entire universe has ever referred to Alan Pardew as God. Ever. Nobody. Ever. Ever.

Ever.

Monreal has played for CB for arsenal a few times. Chambers is ok but still raw.

Di maria's last 2-3 matches before he got injured he wasnt playing that great.

I believe one of his last games was against arsenal and he missed a sitter.

Many in this forum where criticising him saying he has been off form for a while.

So no good DC was available for 2-3 seasons? You needed a whole new defence years ago and should have started rebuilding back in fergies last 2 seasons at united.

Anyways IMO for the reasons i have stated previously, LVG is not doing any better or worse then Moyes.

This leads me to believe that you should have given Moyes a proper chance ie see how he gets along for 2 seasons.

How long did it take Fergie to adapt and start dominating with United?

Am sure they are. But they are also ones who are sitting on the fence tossing and changing there opinions of him almost weekly but no one cares.

Question: Cant a fan change his opinions of a manager/player?
