Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2 - 3rd February 2013]

Good first half before the first of the half time breaks, should really be 2 or 3 up, need to get Giggs or Kagawa on for Valencia second half and put Nani out on the right

Ramires's tackle was nasty, again, but it wasn't that bad, it wasn't a red. LIkewise Colo's was bad, not intentional but also not a red. Firstly Ba made his shot, so a goal scoring chance wasn't prevented, and it was bad luck more than anything else, I really can't decide if I would have given the penalty, maybe, maybe not. Ultimately if things didn't happen how they did, if a penalty was given, who knows how the rest of the game would have played out, could have ended up 4-1 to Newcastle, or 0-27 to Chelsea, you can't ever say "we deserved a penalty, therefore with that extra certain goal as no one misses penalties, we'd have certainly won or got the draw".

Newcastle are looking better, they really did look improved most of December, not brilliant, but some good spells and good halfs, just the final 20 mins against Arsenal/Utd were abysmal.

It's a bit funny/ironic that you finally buy a CB and Taylor comes back from injury and, while last week I think lack of fitness played a huge part in the second half showing of poo by the defence, he looked better this week.

Was a bit disappointed from the replay that he actually did block that shot with his nuts, I forget who they were playing but his blatant handball block then pretending he took it in the nuts years ago was brilliant :p

Sissoko's certainly looking good, Cabaye post injury seems back towards last years form, Cisse is playing better, Debuchy looks pretty good and a proper CB in for Williamson is the biggest improvement in the team.

The only thing I can't work out is, Perch, I'd play almost anyone else you had over him, Gael, Anita, Pardew, Carr, Ashley :p

Taylor is a very good CB, but we've always needed someone in as Williamson should be nowhere near the premier league. I am surprised we got somebody with such calibre though. And it's a tough job for Pardew to pick who starts. Nobody knows where colo will be come the summer tho...

I agree perch was our weakest player today, he does get stuck in tho, but after his stupid booking before half time he could no longer get suck in. I wanted Anita to come on personally. Pardew seems to have cast him out now, even though I thought he was one of our best players in December...

Getting stuck in means giving very silly fouls away. He was also caught on the ball 3 times he should be no where near the team like Williamson

We've got several options on the bench. Really need both Van Persie and Valencia to step it up, one has been useless and the other has been almost entirely absent.

I fully expect Tiote to walk back into the team once he is back from ACN. Perch is doing an ok job, but I agree he is not PL standard.
