Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20th - 21st September 2014]

Man.U. need a point tomorrow to go above Liverpool, this is why it's pointless taking anything that happens in the first 6 weeks or so as a guide of how the season will pan out.

We've not faced any particularly good teams yet, but I do think we'd have fared a lot better if we didn't have all these injuries.

Going to be a very interesting season. I do think Chelsea are pretty much nailed on for the league though. City will most likely get second and then 3rd and 4th are a bit of a toss up... I think we can potentially get 3rd if our defence can at least become decent.

Match of the Day tonight at 10.20pm.
1.Newcastle/Hull City, 2.West Ham/Liverpool, 3.Aston Villa/Arsenal, 4.QPR/Stoke City, 5.Swansea/Southampton, 6.Burnley/Sunderland.

Chelsea are the same in as they haven't played any of the 'better' sides yet (barring the flukey Everton game) but they're leaking goals and will get found out if that doesn't change.
It's just too early to predict anything really :)

drops lovren? you only signed him in the summer

He is a liability, don't think I've seen him have a decent game for us yet. Skrtel scared the whit out of me last season in that he always had an error in him. Lovren is on a differnt level to him, waste of 20 million.

Agreed that Gerrard won't get dropped, Rodgers need to think of Liverpool as does Stevie and do the decent thing.

utd fans what did you watch last year instead of match of the day? Gona need suggestions:mad::p

LOL.
I actually stopped watching MOTD last year.
I think the Fulham game was the final straw, where we crossed a lot.
After that game, I only watched the Champions League games.
The next league game I saw was when Giggs took over.

Dont worry though, it will definitely get better for Liverpool.
Your problem is that you have sold the best player in the league and you have bought lots of new players - so it will take time to get them all working together.

Just dont expect to score as many goals/points as you did last year, though, as you no longer have Suarez.

It's baffling. 34 years of age and he's played 270 minutes of football in a week.

I questioned whether Gerrard had something in his contract that states he has to play when he's fit last season and I'm questioning it again now. The only other option is Rodgers is scared to drop him and that doesn't bode well for anyone.

What makes it worse is Henderson is now just a pair of legs for Gerrard and he's gone off the boil completely as a result.

Exactly ( even though City have been a bit questionable too, thought they would still be level pegging with Chelsea until tomorrow's game)

Do you only watch when you're winning or something?

You are right. Chelsea will leak goals and I actually dont think that this will change.
But, you no longer have the non scoring striker (Torres) + you have Costa.

I remember last week, when Costa scored a hat-trick. I was thinking simplistically - had Torres remained, instead of Costa, Chelsea would've lost 2-1 (assuming that Torres would not score).

Its a long season, but Chelsea should win the title this year and lets not forget Chelsea have already got a 5pt lead over Man City (this may become 8pts, tomorrow).

Chelsea fans should rejoice and enjoy their supremacy this year, while it lasts.
