Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20th - 21st September 2014]

This is a tough one.

We lost because after the penalty we went into headless chicken mode and urinated the points up the wall.

BUT

If it hadn't have been given - as it shouldn't have, for both the foul and the dive - then I think United would still have won. Leicester looked beaten and buried, and Clattenburg gave them a shot in the arm and deflated United at the same time, which resulted in what you saw.

So, **** Clattenburg. But at the same time, **** our defence.

U spend nigh on 3 months playing a 3-5-2 but at the first sign of trouble u go to 4 at the back. I'd be worried if I was a man u fan.

Worried after 5 games?
Blaming the manager after 5 games?

If all teams started to question their manager after 5 games, the premier league would be a crazy place to work.

From the get-go LvG stated that it will take 3 months for the team to become comfortable with the new system.

If LvG is poor after Christmas, then I will be worried, but I won't panic after 5 games - thats just ridiculous.

Oh and if Man Utd should be worried, the same should apply to Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham, who have all scored similar points to us.

Utd's problem now is that in their next 7 games they have Everton, Chelsea, City and Arsenal whereas of those 3 you mention, Liverpool have already played Spurs and City and Everton have had games against Arsenal and Chelsea so it's not unreasonable to have dropped points by now.

If any of those teams had Swansea, Sunderland, Burnley, QPR and Leicester to start the season they would be looking at 9-10 points absolute minimum to be considered top 4 challengers.

If they don't get it together defensively, by the time the team and system 'clicks' in 3 months they'll be in a relegation battle :p

No top four wouldn't be the end of the world, though I do think it's still very much possible. Even if we finished 5th/6th we could still buy defenders who are of a decent quality, etc.

You think that LvG will keep his job, if he finishes outside top 4?
After spending £150M, any club in the World would expect better than 5th or 6th. If you manage Man City, spend £150M and dont win the league, you get fired. Chelsea would demand top 2, as would most clubs.

Really? Everyone and their mum can see you defence and midfield is **** weak yet your summer transfers were all offensive. He had 7 days to prepare the team and you concede 5 (five).....

Do you always post ****? Thank goodness for ignore.

As I Liverpool fan I am worried about our form though..!

Lvg has already had nigh on 3 months with your squad, when does this mythical 3 months period start and finish? Additionally the 3 months statement was in relation to the 3-5-2, which u have abandoned.

Just find the hypocrisy from Man U fans to your 2 most recent managers funny. It's like your all blindly ignoring the fact he was sacked from Barca, Ajax, Bayern and failed horribly with the Dutch NT in 2002 since the turn of the millennium.

If, and it's a massive if, you do scrap in the CL spots this season it will be due to spending levels so obscene they put anything man city and Chelsea have done into the shade.

Watching MOTD2, Rojo looks awful, glad the rumours about him going to Southampton didn't pan out :p

Rojojo has looked awful each time he's played. This is nothing new.

also i lolled wjen mata came on and his first contribution was to lose the ball and set up a Leicester attack

It already is!

Man Utd is the Premiership's biggest, and most successful, team. Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham don't have a single Premier League title between them. The context of expectation matters.

Even given that, Man Utd are doing the worst out of those four. Man Utd have face Sunderland, Swansea, Burnley, QPR and Leicester - not a single top tier team among them! - whereas struggling Everton have faced Arsenal and Chelsea.

Hypocrisy?! So you think he's clearly not up the job and shouldn't be given more time then?

Give over, you're being even more ridiculous than usual. It's like you're literally unable to comprehend all the very reasonable points people have made (including Liverpool supporters).

What a great weekend
It was Chelsea's worst performance so far but coming away with a point is great and there's no point adding what's been said so far about the other results:p

If Distin is starting we will. I lost my head big time when McCarthy went right back and Barry went CB.

I was at work in an mixed office, normally I'm not so couldn't vent my frustration :D I can't believe how bad he's let our back four get without additions. I know he did try to strengthen (or players were mentioned) but left it too late :( I just hope they can find a player or two cheap in Jan or it's going to be a long season.

Gives Hibbert a 2 year contract extension and doesn't even put him on the bench. Weird! I look forward to tomorrow.

tottenham should be worried because although united can't defend, they can score. spurs can do neither :o
