Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20th - 24th April 2012]

I don't know... and I don't see why it matters. You're crying about a lack of investment, relative to Newcastle... that's the laughable thing, which I'm focussing on.

lack of investment yet the season's not over, you can't tell me when the last time newcastle finished above spurs was and you don't think it matters, what does matter then?

i would say our investment (if you're comparing us to newcastle, which is what you are doing) has worked for a few years now. but we weren't looking at newcastle 2 months ago, we were looking at holding onto 3rd, arsenal and chelsea were the threats, not newcastle, liverpool were more of a threat.

this season has been strange but as a spurs fan, i am concentrating on how we threw away such a league lead over 4th placed arsenal. it was a combination of players getting tiered and a lack of investment leading to lack of quality in depth, quality that could continue to challenge for top 4, a tough run in after we thumped newcastle 5-0, the redknapp/capello saga that has sat in the players minds and a lack of a consisten CB pairing and leadership.

newcastle have bought well, bit of luck involved with how their players have taken to the pl and the team so well but spurs haven't. manu now can't be arsed and which big name signing (he's not even a signing really, he's on loan) have we made since him? VDV.

newcastle have caught spurs, because spurs have bottled it. but still, it's not over yet.

Jol has just said that Pogrebnyak's shot that hit the bar actually did go over the line (wasn't really picked up too much on MOTD), I couldn't really tell from the replays myself, but apparently the Fulham video guy had it showing over the line. Lucky that didn't cost the 3 points I guess!
