Most likely, that's why I can't understand today, banking on winning the CL is just madness, finishing outside the top four is going to be financially awful for Chelsea as well as using CL to attract players. Madness, how on earth they didn't bring on Lampard as well I don't know. This was a must win game for Chelsea, 60 points to Arsenal's 64 it would have finished if they won, with a game in hand and Arsenal will almost certainly drop another point, now Chelsea have to win 4 and Arsenal only need 5 points to stay ahead of Chelsea.

No one, even Roman, expects them to beat Barca at the nou camp, 4th isn't/wasn't an absurd target though, giving up an attainable target, to go after an almost impossible one is bat **** crazy.

Oh well, very likely that one less team for us to worry about, but that doesn't make top 4 a given, Newcastle are in the best form in the league, are actually playing well, can defend well and nick a result against a team with huge posession. IE Swansea had what 70%+ posession and Newcastle won quite easily/comfortably. GIves them a VERY good shot of winning against really anyone. When you're that deadly upfront and good defensively you can nick a result against anyone in the league. Frankly I see them beating Chelsea, and I wouldn't bet against them grabbing a point against City either.

Not all teams are as **** as your lot Cheets. (now dreads next week when you can beat us :p)

If we ultimately prove good enough to finish 4th we would deserve to be there and probably do well the team we have.

Dont you have to qualify to get in to groups stages from 4th?

Your team is not good enough for CL and EPL week in week out, you will suffer.

Happened last time when you ended up relegated.

Spurs do have a silly easy run in but..... seem to have forgotten how to play football. Also playing a bunch of relegation contenders at this point in the season isn't always best. Very very hard to call, though its feeling more and more likely that Newcastle will nab one of the spots, Spurs/Arsenal is a lot harder to call.

I just want another shake up in the league. It would be great to see newish teams in the cl. On the other hand if chelsea and arsenal are not in cl, thats 2 lot of fans that can't have a pop at liverpool:p
 
It still sounds like ultimately Drogba, Kalou and maybe Lampard will be on their way out end of the season, leaving Mikel, essien, Ramires, Merieles, Torres, Mata, of which only one is playing anything like champions league quality football. Chelsea might have won a game with negative tactics against Barca, they won't win it, and next year without 2 key players who were probably the two most important players in reaching the semi's, they could end up not getting out of the group stages.

Anyway, overall I don't really give a **** how people do in the champs league, certainly not in as far as not wanting to see a team in the top four because they MIGHT do worse in the champs league. Crazy old me, I think the team that is good enough to come fourth, deserves fourth, and if they go out in the first qualification round of the champs league.... they still deserved fourth.

I mean, Spurs did better than Arsenal when they hit the champs league, nothing to say Newcastle couldn't.

Their first team is incredibly good right now, if they can add the right depth I don't see why they couldn't do as well as Spurs/Arsenal in the champs league
 
Meh a draw, ill take that as it means we only dropped 2 pts...better than a loss i suppose. Better result for us than Chelsea as they needed to win to close the gap.

Now just need both Newcastle and Spurs to drop points this weekend...not expecting it but am hoping that they do.
 
Well, Tottenham have some better individual players, but saying that they have really lost it the last few months...

For playing ability Ben Arfa is real quality.

The league doesnt lie and so far we are better off, regardless of whether Tottenham were playing the best football for a few months at the start of the season

Tbh I will still be surprised if we finish 4th, but if we do we will of done it deservedly

No it didn't :p

At the moment our squad is not CL ready but Cashley has already said that he will invest appropriately if we reach that level. Plus I very much doubt we would lose players if we made CL.

Anyway long way to reach that level with a tough run in and even if we miss out Europa would be a real achievement.
