Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd October 2016]

How have we not got 3 goals yet, one of those games. 100 shots all well blocked/saved, with a 5 mins period of terrible defending giving the other team a chance.

Yep, we need a new keeper in January.

West Brom are just playing for set pieces and we're giving them to them.

Nope, Im starting to think its our goal keeping coach and our defense coach as im sure Klopp doesnt do it all.

Karius was 2nd best keeper in german league last season comes here and suddenly has Migs confidence / decision making cant see it myself

I meant when Migs first joined, he's better now but then you would hope so after a few years. Karius was meant to fix Migs weaknesses but instead it looks like we are starting from scratch again.

Soon as they scored klopp said calm but nope we nearly blow it, glad we held out should have scored far more than we did but got the 3pts so over all good

The last 10 minutes aside that was actually a really good performance and the only criticism was that we seemed to lose a bit of hunger for more goals. We controlled the entire pitch and were playing some lovely stuff but at 2-0 we just seemed to lose that killer instinct.

Would have been nice to got the 2 goal win to go top but it's meaningless at this stage of the season. Give how we've typically found ways of ****ing up these sorts of games and our record against Pulis, the most important thing was the 3 points.
Glenn Hoddle, we have played like this against top teams already ....

It was getting ****ing annoying wasn't it?
His weakness in the air was highlighted in an article when we were looking to sign him.

I'm not too worried about him long-term, he'll learn and improve. He's hardly the first keeper that's struggled with crosses in his early days in the PL. Our problem defending set-plays goes way beyond our keeper though and it's really simple too - we're just too small. Take out Lovren and Matip and we've got nobody else in the side that's decent in the air. Can and Henderson have got a bit of height but they're not massive by PL standards and not very good aerially.

It's possibly something we've got to look at - when looking at future LB's or CM's, it would be really useful if they were 6'4.

Looking forward to next week against Palace, you may have to look at starting Origi just to give us a bit more height in the side because they're another side that are strong from set-plays.
