Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 24th Jan 2012]

Doesn't matter at all. You could do with brushing up on the rules before arguing about these things.

Whose arguing, you? Certainly not me, I'm just interested in the actual facts and whether he did actually stamp on his head. Someone mentioned his cut, harry mentions one on his head. Yet zero evidence that this actually happened.

Yes I know about the intention, but then if there wasn't actually contact it would make Harry a bit of a liar with his comment on the cut. The only contact I can actually see if the back of balotellis calf.

Whe I saw the first video, I thought he stamped on his head. That second one I'm not so sure.

That's not what you said though, you said "he should have gone if he made contact" - the rules he should have gone either way.

Furthermore, Parker wasn't looking when Balotelli stamped on his head so unless he has bizarre psychic powers he did very well to instantly hold the exact spot where he was kicked, cut or no cut.

Have you seen how his head got clattered anyway from the accidental calf, he would have been holding that spot regardless. I think that's why people think he made contact with the stamp, I don't think he did.

I think the cut is a lie, until I see such evidence.

Yeah your right I suppose he has to go, there was no such out cry when rooney tried to take off Abdoulaye Fayes head with an elbow and missed though :D Rooney wouldn't finish a game if he got sent off for every intention ;)

I literally have no idea what you're on about - the media have gone out of their way to highlight any of Rooney's indiscretions, just as they have with countless other players for other clubs.

I was talking about on here not the media, I looked the thread was tiny with little in comparison :D

I have no problem with going back and punishing players with these sorts of incidents with video evidence but lets not cherry pick one because it happens to look more violent than another, regardless of contact.

Let's also get the diving and other forms of cheating at the same time.

How can they have balotelli for violent conduct when they spent months building a case to get Rooney off the hook with fifa?

Again I have no problem with them sorting this issue with Balotelli out if they show atleast a tiny bit of consistency.

Exactly the point most managers raised after the Rooney appeal verdict.

Don't forget if a United player has done something in the past and got away with it, then it's ok for every other player in the future to do it.

I looked in the united stoke thread for 2008 boxing day and only ripper showed his face to say rooney should have gone :D

It's not just about Rooney, it's about having some sort of consistency with these incidents using video when the ref doesn't get a clean look at them.

The trouble is they would punish this one and let another one go the very next week.

Probably because Rooney throwing an elbow v Stoke is somewhat less of a talking point than Balotelli standing on someone's face, avoiding a second yellow/straight red card, and subsequently going on to win and score the decisive penalty in the fifth minute of added time in a vital game for City.

The FA have their rules, FIFA/UEFA have their rules. FA enforce their rules in their competitions but should be free to act according to the rules of other competitions in which England take part in. Club sides agree to the FA disciplinary code which states violent conduct is a 3 match ban, but no-one accuses them of hypocrisy when they appeal red cards for similar offences in European competition. And this is from someone that doesn't like the FA.

Some of you really need to stop frothing at the mouth and watch the shove that Modric gives Mario that knocks him off balance. NO WAY that you can say it was DEFINITELY intentional by Mario.

The Lescott one i don't think is intentional either and the angle posted above makes it a hundred times worse than it is.

If that is given a retrospective red then the FA "independent committee" is fixed as for example Rooney didn't get banned for his elbow v Wigan last year and what about Evra against Richards a few weeks ago.

Balotelli one i fear will unless Webb stands up and says he saw it which from the camera looks like he did and decided that it wasn't intentional.

lee dixon rang, he wants his crack pipe back

Had Balotelli not stamped on Parker, Lescott would have been charged for his elbow. It barely got a mention after the game though because everybody was talking about Balotelli.

I'd have rather Lescott was suspended than Balotelli :(

The FA have got bigger things to worry about. Someone took his shirt off after scoring a goal on Saturday. Also (brace yourself) I think someone kicked the ball away as well!!!!!

Complete and utter rubbish as per from the FA.

At least he only misses Everton, Fulham, Villa and Blackburn.

Gives Edin a good chance to get back scoring again.

Because the FA only act if a big thing is made of the incident in the media.

Well clearly not the times Rooney get's away with violent conduct ;)
Hopefully now they will be a little more consistent. I can dream.

The right result if this carries on :)

Nice to see the FA making a good decision, now they just need to charge Lescott too.

Would be nice if Bolochelli could appeal and get the four match ban extended too.

yaaay. how about a points reduction of 2 points and a point to spurs. don't see how lescott got off though?

stick that in your pipe, bizkid.

Lescott was let off because Webb said after viewing the incident after the game he wouldn't have taken any action. Whereas he said he would have sent Balotelli straight off had he seen his stamp.

Also looks like Crouch may get a ban too for his eye gouge on Olsson.
