Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 24th Jan 2012]

Welcome to a few pages ago.

according to lee dixon, it was probably unintentional by balotelli as he stamped down as his left leg was off balance. aaaaalrighty then.

I'm not surprised. Taggart always lies about injuries. Didn't he initially claim Vidic had only done his medial ligaments and would be out for a couple of months?

Not that I can remember no, he was always pretty pessimistic in terms of how bad the injury was

I want Chamberlain back :(

15m wasn't enough

I want to know why we spent roughly the same amount on Ashley Young when this lad was available, it's not like we weren't in for him. Chamberlain will be the player everyone thought Walcott would be.

Some of you really need to stop frothing at the mouth and watch the shove that Modric gives Mario that knocks him off balance. NO WAY that you can say it was DEFINITELY intentional by Mario.

The Lescott one i don't think is intentional either and the angle posted above makes it a hundred times worse than it is.

If that is given a retrospective red then the FA "independent committee" is fixed as for example Rooney didn't get banned for his elbow v Wigan last year and what about Evra against Richards a few weeks ago.

Balotelli one i fear will unless Webb stands up and says he saw it which from the camera looks like he did and decided that it wasn't intentional.

He's being ironic as I didn't buy goal.com actually had a legit scoop, but given Frank's record of reporting things that website says law of averages says he has to have got one right sooner or later

What's the saying? Throw enough **** and some of it sticks :p

it wasn't actually goal.com where I saw it (and it wasn't even mentioned), but good to see how well you admit to being wrong

Biz I'm sure you watch different games to everyone else. Both are are clear reds ,as clear as your last minute pen was. You got lucky that's what's needed to win the league. Be happy and then admit you got lucky :-)

Ah there's 2 reasons, Alex's dad Mark Chamberlain has been shouting in the press since we started playing him in the first team that Arsenal is "the place to be" (entirely because he's a portsmouth coach and needs a job when that club goes under)

Other reason is this dull, mythical quantity known as "prem experience" (had to put up with half a season of BUY PEOPLE WITH CHAMP EXPERIENCE). For some reason managers (and fans) are willing to buy average players for far too much on over the top wages because they have played there before :(

Seriously, its experiment time again, stand up, stand on your left foot, lean forwards imagine you are offbalance and where you'd stamp your foot down to get your balance........

yes, that's right, INFRONT of you, not back and behind you, try that, and fall on the floor afterwards........ like Ballotelli did. AT the time in the instant I wondered (from the first and only angle I saw) if he was just trying to get a leg down quickly to stop going down...... as soon as you see the angle and where he tries to put his foot....... its completely the opposite place you'd be trying to put your foot, its 100% intentional.

The Lescott one there is a small argument that with someone who was coming to smack into you, you put up a "bracing" arm to cushion the blow. However, again, replays just show the angle and positioning looks far too intentional and isn't where you'd put your arm in any situation except purposefully trying to get someone.

AS for Rooney not getting banned, irrelevant, you need consistency WITHIN one season for "fairness" not consistency across seasons. Rooney wasn't close to the only person to get away with that kind of thing last season(though should obviously have been punished).

Of course it was intentional by baloteli, you can't just fall or slip and end up using force to swing your leg backwards in the manner he did!

Typical of Lee Dixon on MOTD2 to defend him being a City fan (would have thought Dixon's loyalty would be with Arsenal, how is he a city fan?).

Ox was good today but, both Utd weren't very good, and Arsenal were terrible, its hard to gauge exactly how good he really was. Would he have been as successful against Barca or just a team playing really well? Also while I think chamberlain certainly has the ability to play brilliantly, and certainly can't be less consistent than Theo or Gervinho......... that doesn't necessarily mean he can perform like he did today every game, or even half the games he plays.

Remember, Arsenal paid the same for Theo, who people were raving about as well, were you angry Utd didn't buy Walcott instead of Arsenal, not a chance.

Also, while you guys are giving Young a hard time, he both started the season brilliantly, got injured and hasn't played much since, he didn't play well when he came back, but the entire team was playing like a bunch of retards as well.

He was also excellent for England in all his appearances in the same period, looking a mile better than Rooney for Utd and England till he got injured.

Utd fans were even saying he was excellent, then when he looked a bit poo when he came back with injury when the whole team was playing poo...... you all seemed to turn on him instantly.

Comical Ali; what have you done with Biz.Kid?

Wrong? Sorry do you take it personally or something that I rubbished your copy and paste job?

Oh for crying out loud Biz stop embarrassing yourself, it was an intentional stamp end of story, no if's buts or maybes he knew what he was doing, it should have been a red card and he should be done retrospectively. He may well get away with it if Webb says he saw the incident and decided there was nothing in it but even that doesn't prove his innocence.
