Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 26th February 2020]

Commentators have beat me to it but how is that a handball and De Bruyne doing the same thing in the wall and stopping the ball from flying in the top corner isn't even reviewed?

Why doesn’t De Bruyne take the penalties for City? By far their most technical player yet doesn’t take the spot kicks, instead they have people like Sterling take them who can’t kick a ball cleanly.

**** penalty either way.

I assume its an ego thing with Aguero.

Hes inherited a side that isn't build to primarily defend. It remains to be seen how long he lasts at Spurs but given a few years they will be more solid at the back and more toothless going forwards.

My feelings of Jose are that he is a great entertainer and probably a football hero from a prior generation that hasn't been able to adapt.

I say 'probably' because he hasn't had any financial support to get the players he wants into his system and has inherited a squad with serious mental issues.

Ultimately, one man has the ability to rapidly boost the success of the club...Joe Lewis. Levy is a minority shareholder and doesnt have the wealth required to transform the club but Lewis has sat on his investment and watched it struggle upwards in spite of his inaction for the past 20 years.

As much as I dislike Jose's tactics and Levy's tight purse strings, both are doing the best job they can within the constraints of their circumstances. Lewis is the one who doesn't get nearly enough flack for the way he has owned the club.

Hes become a chequebook manager that doesn't want to have to work around the current generations egos. He thinks that you should do what you are told and with the amount you are being paid as a footballer you should put up and shut up.

I say 'probably' because he hasn't had any financial support to get the players he wants into his system and has inherited a squad with serious mental issues.

Those mental issues are a result of overachieving for years with almost 0 funding and getting to the CL final only to lose. Who in their right mind wouldn't be affected by that. They know that isn't likely to happen again in their careers at Spurs and they don't have the squad to compete for the league. Thats not mental weakness, thats just facing the reality of their situation.

Levy doesn't need to be quite as tight as he has been and he did spend a reasonable amount in the summer. The problem is that Jose doesn't fit the profile of the squad he has. He won't have the money to completely redo it and even if he did, he would implode before it was complete. Do Spurs fans even want his brand of football.

About as strong a team as we can put out right now and should be an easy win so I expect Watford to beat us easily. Every time we have a chance to get at the top 4 we **** up so I doubt today will be any different.

Good to see McTominay back on the bench as well.

No idea why I bother watching us anymore. Until Ole is gone and we get a proper, modern, progressive manager who can actually coach a team we are going to be utter ****. The entire league bar Liverpool have been **** this year. Not getting top 4 in a season like this should be a shootable offence for Ole.

Getting out played by Watford in every area of the pitch and having to watch our player trot around the pitch wondering where their teammates will actually be at any moment in the match. **** Ole.
