Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22 - 26th December 2012]

Anyone heard from intensive care if rvp is okay ?

I think they have to be careful what they say in case it prejudices any future court case, after all if it was deliberate and "could have killed him" then attempted murder charges are only a formality :p

Footballs a dangerous game remember, Fergie must be bricking it every free kick or corner against them.

Manchester Utd's players are obviously risking their lives according to Fergie the neurosurgeon

Well it looks like Fergie's ridiculous comments have successfully distracted people from commenting on our disjointed attacking performance. I didn't think people were daft enough to fall for them.

Agreed with Jamie Redknapp yesterday you do worry for football when Wilshere gets booked for a tackle like that, gets the ball, not dangerous, hasn't gone through the bloke from behind, basically he's slid in from the side not miles off the ground or anything and Maloney has gone over his legs. Essentially what most people would call a good slide tackle, if you are going to have a situation where you aren't allowed to make any contact with the player at all then it almost makes the slide tackle redundant because most of the time aside from trying to stop the ball going out of play it only gets used when you need to i.e. to stretch and reach the ball so by definition the opposition player must be closeby.

I get the whole point about wanting to stamp down on dangerous play and getting the ball first doesn't necessarily mean a tackle isn't dangerous but the interpretation of what is dangerous/reckless seems a bit OTT at times.

As for the Williams/RVP thing I'm not convinced he was trying to smash the ball into him, more the usual frustrated punt up field when they feel the ref has given a bad decision.

Man U had plenty of opportunities but they just didn't take them. On another day man u would have won 3-1. Rooney did have a bit of a shocker though.

Would hardly call it disjointed, plenty of simple chances to win the game, poor finishing and uncomposed, particularly the scramble where young wanted a hand ball

One of our attackers - RvP - had a good game and ended up carrying the rest. He must have felt like he was back in an Arsenal shirt again. The chances we created were down to poor defending rather than good play on our part on the whole. There were so many occasions where we got in behind the Swansea full backs and failed to find someone in the box despite being under no pressure.

This gif pretty much sums up Valencia's season:

"Ooh, I have the ball. Oh crap, the defender hasn't spontaneously combusted. What now?! Maybe if I wiggle my standing leg he'll get out of the way. Nope. Where's Rafael when you need him? Let's go for a little run and see if I can find him. ****, I've fallen over."

it could have killed him! LOL best not take any headers then RvP

I expect fergie to make RvP wear a scrum cap in the next few games like cech :D

lol valencia. i said that in the first half...hes usually a bit more running in him but today he was weoful.

apart from once when he ran with the ball in our half casrrying it forward a bit.

Valencia at his best is very direct and doesn't faff about, but this season his decision making has been abysmal. Rafael has carried our entire right wing this year.

It's not the first time this season where our multi-million wide players have been shown up by the oppositions, I forget what game it was previously but it's pretty embarrassing when you're watching Wayne Routledge and thinking 'see Valencia that's how you do it'

I dont expect anything from Young anymore I'm that used to his average player displays but like you say we know what Tony V is capable of but so far this season it looks like he's scared to cross the ball :o

You're right about the motive for his comments, he always does it when you have a bad result. It's not always that they're this ridiculous or insane though. I just wish he'd said murder instead of killed him :p
