Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23 - 25th February 2013]

Well dissapointed with that, we were our own worst enemies today, so many needless mistakes which fair play to Newcastle get capitalised on by pressing our weak links of jos and fox.

Ah well have to beat qpr next week and just keep getting the results at st Marys if nothing else.

Elliot motm too, also no idea why the ref didn't book tiote for that haircut! Should have also been booked for being terrible

Good win, on the balance of play we more than deserved it :)

Still looking a little fragile at the back but they are getting better and now Colo/Taylor injury doesn't equal us being ****** as Mbiwa looks very good!

Soton should stay up no worries, good attacking side.

How was the goal his fault? Also, no he isn't.

He basically turned away from it and attempted to block it with what? his heel?

There were also some massive errors that he made that weren't really noticed because City didn't score from them (passing it across his own goal and giving it away, committing himself to a sliding challenge when he was the last man and letting Aguero I think it was through). His decision making is on par with a goldfish. Other than that, he's not bad I suppose :p

I think Cahill looked pretty good last year but has been mostly terrible this year, as you say, making lots of mistakes, a lot don't end up costing the team, doesn't make them less bad mistakes. He throws himself around a lot, gets out of position a lot and overall this season I think has had a lot of very poor games.

Terrible game to watch, Chelsea were abysmal and it seems no matter how much this formation doesn't really work and seems stale and lifeless, they keep using it. Balance, a team has to have a balance of different types of players, Mata, Lampard, Oscar and Hazard, will look great against a completely rubbish team but they have no natural movement or flow to their game.

Newcastle Southampton was a lot more entertaining with some good goals, quite a few fouls, a terrible haircut and a good result. Southampton, really hope they don't go down, by far and away the most entertaining team to get promoted, just the first 10 games of the season were epically awful. Since then its 17 games and 23 points, with 12 games to go I think they way they are playing it shouldn't be too much of an issue, WAY better than most of the teams in the bottom 4-5.

We came from behind to win. We scored more than 3 goals. Tiote wasn't booked. In other news, it's snowing in Hell.
Truly baffling. Next - a goal from a corner!

Can't see Soton going down after that performance, unlucky towards the end but we clearly deserved the 3 points. Solid performances all around: Elliot, Tiote, Debuchy and Sissoko were all class. Poor from Santon for the second goal though, didn't even try to get back. He really is quite weak defensively.

EDIT: Poor, Fox. What a horrible appearance.

Everton were nothing short of pathetic yesterday, I don't know what's wrong at the camp - but I think it may have something to do with Moyes' decision not to discuss a new contract until the end of the season.

We've got an important FA Cup game mid-week against Oldham, would like to see a 4-4-2 with Jelavic and Anichebe and Fellaini being dropped.

He attempts to block it with his body, Yaya shoots near post, you complain he didn't cover it near post then zzzzzz

The mistake was Lampard and Mikel before, Cahill is in a 50/50 situation there at best.

Great 3 points for the toon. The saints shouldn't have any relegation fears, they play some great football and I hope they stay up with their have a go attitude

Anyone watching MOTD2? Apparently Toure's deflected goal was the best goal the commentator has seen this season :o

Poor Rafa though, he's had his goal of the month taken away by Cisse

MASSIVE game for spurs tonight. if we win this i will feel a little more confident about us getting top 4.

dembele has turned out to be a crucial signing as he does so much to protect the back 4 and dominate right across the midfield. there's no denying we miss a playmaker but holtby looks a decent talent and should start over dempsey every game!

be nice of manu scored tonight. he could atleast try and earn his money.

Trouble with Holtby is that he is SO up for it, he burns out on 60 mins, but that may not be a bad thing as we have scored mostly in the 2nd half, maybe a good thing tog et some urgency in the first.

Ade to score would be good I agree. Could do with someone other than Bale chipping in some goals.

tough 2-1 win I hope
