Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 25th August 2014]

Thats a very different looking team for Arsenal.

Everton XI: Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas, Naismith, Pienaar, Lukaku.

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Monreal, Flamini, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez.

I'm guessing that means Sanchez up top, Ozil on the left, Ox on the right, Ramsey and Wilshire in the middle with Flamini holding?

Although that would leave Monreal horribly exposed on the left, and after what Lukaku did to Monreal the last time we went to Everton that could be a huge mistake.

Monreal is awful, it's a tough call with that line up who you put wide left. Wilshere is easily the strongest defensively out of any option, but then you lose his defensive strength in the middle. AOC left, maybe he has the energy to get back but it's hit and miss if he randomly gives it away in a stupid position or not, Ozil will just barely help there and Ramsey, who knows.

He might do a what he did with Fabregas thing and just play Ramsey as a striker now and then.

I can't see an obvious or particularly good line up with that team. I'd still like to try Bellarin at left back because frankly he can't be as bad as Monreal and showed some genuine potential to turn into a great fullback in both the defensive and offensive sides of his game.

I think you're likely right with Ozil/AOC wide, but I'm not sure that will work out that well. I hope he at least puts AOC left and Ozil right otherwise as you say that left flank will be eaten alive.

We've only had no quality at left back at all since Clichy left, so I really don't blame Wenger for not finding someone actually good to fill in by now, he's only had what, 7 transfer windows to find a replacement in which Wenger has bought Santos and Monreal, both rubbish.

Fulham got trounced 5-1, managed to get it to 1-1 after half time but then shipped 4 more.

Dead last, zero points out of 12, worst goal difference, joint worst conceded, joint worst goals scored. Don't think Magath has long left.
