Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 26th January 2016]

Arsenal have been completely awful. Ramsey, jesus, I've lost count of the number of times players, including Cesc, have beaten him from a standing start, ie facing up to him stopped then being beaten. Cesc just turned him and ran off, Willian just punts it and runs after it. Ramsey looks like his legs are made of lead. I've seen him win it back once, off Willian, and he gave it back to Chelsea with his next touch. Multiple terrible passes, loses control when dribbling and an embarrassing shot.

Mert, everyone on earth can see he's not a bad player but lacks pace to the tune that he repeatedly gets caught out. He should be a back up not a first team player, especially against a passing side that like to counter and have those kind of passes in behind.

Campbell hasn't done a lot but we've not given him much of the ball, Walcott has been awful.

Our whole defence looks heavy footed. Just now Costa who honestly isn't that fast got around our defence there when he shouldn't have got remotely close.

Probably lucky that Gabriel didn't get a yellow for that foul on Costa, had revenge for the last game written all over it. However deserved it was, that is a tackle to put in 2 mins from the end IF you aren't on a yellow that late in the game. Not still in the first half.

Pitiful performance.

ozil has been invisible as well, only thing i can remember is when oscar out muscled him and shoved him off the ball.

with willian charging about it would probably have been better to sub him off rather than giroud

Looking at the replay he could have easily kept going, looks like there was barely any contact. These days you get taught to go down for anything though, especially when you know it's a red card in decisions like that.

Costa in going down easily shocker.

But then again, thats what the professional game is, he knew if he went down Per was gone, so he did a barrel roll.

We've been ****, that big greasy footballing cancer has done us again.

ref keeping aresnal in this one. thought chelsea could have had a penalty in the first half for handball and should have been one a second ago.

could have been a second yellow as well. nvm was flamini on the yellow

Calling it now, Sanchez is going to tweak his hamstring.

Should have just accepted the loss rather than risk him.

In the grand scheme of things given the way this weekend has gone this result probably means nothing.

Are you forgetting Arsenal are down to 10 men? Very hard to do anything with 10 men let alone a stoked up Chelsea side.

Surely it has to be in place, else you would end up plays scything the opposition down in that position all the time.

I don't it would happen that often, it's not like its a frequent event. I just don't think it's fair going down to 10 men when Costa still had Cech to beat, plus you had Kos coming across making it hard. Mert should have just allowed him through at the end of the day, he knows the rules.

Then you have to blame Mertersacker for diving in. As was said at half time, I'd rather be 1-0 down after 23 minutes than down to 10 men, and there was no guarantee that he'd score.

I agree, he knows the rules, like i said in the previous post. Still though, it's just harsh..what makes these games special is the ferocity, with that though, players decision making goes out the window sometimes. I'd be a proper lenient ref though, would always try and let the game decide itself with 11 v 11
