Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th September 2011]

You don't notice a slight pattern with Leeds fans putting down United players abilities?

How am I being childish? You said you'd never seen him score goals that weren't set up for him so I posted two to show you and you got all silly and defensive and started saying that nearly any striker could do that and you wouldn't discuss it any more. (which lets face it is the hallmark of someone realising the point they are trying to make is flawed)

80% of posts are Man U related, to have a discussion it has to be about them unfortunately. So I can comment on who I like, just because it doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't mean I'm talking **** does it?

Hernandez is a fantastic poacher, they don't really tend to have a huge amount of other aspects to their game, do they?

He does what he's naturally gifted at doing, I don't think it can be done much better.

Oh come now, saying "it's my opinion" only stretches so far. You're honestly telling me that you believe that 90% of capable strikers could have scored those goals?

People on here love over exaggeration both ways (I'm guilty of it myself)

Which is what I said?

I said he's in the right place at the right time and a good finisher. But individual brilliance? He doesn't have that. Berbatov and Rooney do.

I know, I was just offering my opinion as well. Am I not allowed?:mad:

:p

If by individual brilliance you mean flair outside of the penalty box, then no, he doesn't seem to have an awful lot of that. You won't find him cracking long shots in, either.

At his age, name someone?

Please don't mention Ronaldo.

Just the 1 or the 100's of better all round players at 23 than Hernandez?

That's not a criticism of Hernandez though, he's a goalscorer and despite being far less technically gifted than a lot of other strikers, he finds a way to outscore them.

Chicharito isn't a great footballer its true. He is a great poacher / finisher with great pace and a good shot. His all round on the ball contribution is usually low.

compared to say rooney who can grab the ball do a bit of street soccer skills then hit a 45 yard diagonal ball onto the wingers toes.

if hernandez has to receive the ball on halfway line or back to goal he is very much less effective. if the ball Ian in front so he can run or move on to it he is more comfortable.

Right, he is a great poacher, great finisher, has great pace and a good shot, yet he isn't a great footballer? How does that make sense?

Strikers / forwards are measured on their goal scoring ability, so how is Hernandez any different? His record is nearly as good as any mature top goal scorer. Last season, 45 apps 20 goals for MUFC, 11 apps 11 goals for Mexico. Please name a forward at Hernandez' age that moved from a dog league to one of the best in the world and managed to pull off that record?

I'm not saying he is one of the best in the world or even a complete player, I am saying that for his level of experience, he is outstanding.

EDIT: Please name another forward aside from Rooney that can hit 45 yard balls right onto someones foot.
