Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [24 - 28th November 2012]

The only positives are Rafael and Evans looking good. Anderson deserved his start to be fair but wasn't fantastic. What I don't understand is this; we are almost definitely going to dominate possession against the likes of West Ham, why is Scholes not playing in this sort of game? He can't compete physically with Spurs, Chelsea etc. but when we are playing the vast majority in their half and he isn't going to have to do a lot off the ball, surely these are the games he (or Giggs, if Fergie consists on keeping him around the squad) should be playing?

Rooney was embarrassingly poor.

Scholes was suspended.

EDIT:

I have no idea what Fergie can do with this side at the moment they're all in such poor form

Not sure how we didn't get anything from today. I (thankfully) missed the first 20 minutes but from the 70 odd minutes I did see, we were much the better side and should have at least taken a point from the game. I'll wait until I see the 2nd penalty incident again (not 100% sure Gallas didn't get a bit of the ball) but the challenge on Gerrard in the first half looked a clear pen.

January can't come soon enough - if we can get a couple of wide players in that are a genuine goal threat, we'll be more than ok because our general play has been very good.

Still cant get my head round how spurs walk away with a win? Liverpool dominated again, i cant believe how bad our finishing is.

What is more disgusting is how we do not get penalties. Suarez fouled again and nothing given. Its like defenders know they can foul him and get away with it. It really needs to be sorted out.

And LOL at Bale, diving again, but hes not foreign so nobody cares.

I wouldnt be surprised if Suarez goes abroad next season with the treatment he gets - as much of a numpty he can be , the premier league needs players of his quailty.

I still think we shouldn't have got Van Persie, last season our problem was never finishing chances it was creating them. Now our tactic just seems to be have as many strikers on the pitch as we can.

thanks for coming, liverpool.

Liverpool score no goals and we were lucky...

The more positive results we can get the more confidence we will grow and the results will come easier. This is the hard part, if we get through we will keep growing. In Levy we trust!

thanks for coming, liverpool.

You're welcome, must be brilliant knowing the side you're playing against most likely will not score, will have downing defending and call us(me) the victim all you want but not get a decision. (26 games without a penalty.)

I've had time to calm down though, Dowd is still an obese nob.

Happy with the 3 points but I just don't know why AVB insists on making the team sit back and defend a lead. Liverpool played well after our 2nd goal because we let them play. I have no doubts that with the right attitude we could have stuck 3 or 4 past Liverpool. We are at home so should be dictating matters regardless of the score.

LOL Arsenal as i thought managed a draw so from 6 pts we manage to grab 2 :/ Oh well at least we didnt lose.

Swansea beating WBA 3-1 was a result i didnt see coming, bit surprising as WBA have been playing some decent football...Chelsea drawing with Fulham, again another result i didnt see coming but after drawing with us earlier in the season i shouldnt be too surprised as Jol has them playing some very good football but honestly thought with the squad Chelsea have, that they would have thumped Fulham into the ground.

This season is going to be a weird one methinks..

Swans destroyed WBA in the first half. Literally the best we've played in a few years.

Shame that we invited them in the second and took off most of our attacking options. Luke Moore is about as dangerous as a crayon.

Now perhaps Liverpool fans will see what everyone at Swansea thought last year: Rodgers is a great organiser of the team but lacks in the attacking department. I think you'll be passing yourself to death unless you get an epic goal scorer. This almost cost us at times last year, yet this year we've tweaked the system and built on the principles and find it easier to create chances.

Wow you keep count of all the games you didn't get penalties in?!?! Yep victim.

Spurs have received their fair share of dicking over, but we don't keep count. We just get up and try again. Can you see the difference? We look to the positive future while Liverpool whinge, complain and berate.

It was on Opta stats but yeah sure why not take a jibe :)

Also bit easier finishing 17 points further up the table to 'get up and try again'

Spurs look a lot better with Dembele in the side. They've missed someone in the centre who's comfortable receiving the ball under pressure. Shame he look knackered after about 40 minutes.

Yes opta does often record stats...

The fact that you haven't received penalties somehow means that you are on the end of harsh decisions? Does that mean that the clubs who get penalties in world football get easy decisions?

it is absurd! The better teams are better at attacking with more skilful players who get more penalties against inherently less able opposition. The trend runs with poorer teams not getting as many penalties; Liverpool fall into the latter section.

Play better with better players,, get more penalties. Simples.

Why do Liverpool always complain that something was wrong? Where is the hope that things will get better? Where is the grace in defeat? Where is the joy?

It is amazing that even Spurs supporters are eclipsed by Liverpool supporters' bile when it comes to outlook or reality.

..bile...

Purdy's not complained about the simply fact that we've not got a penalty in that long but that we should have had several penalties which we've not been awarded. Today being a pretty good example - we were the better side and should have had at least 1 if not 2 pens but neither were given.
