Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [24th - 26th August 2012]

MUFC XI: de Gea, Rafael, Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Cleverley, Anderson, Kagawa, Young, van Persie

SUBS: Lindegaard, Evans, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez.

Good to see Nani & Rooney benched/dropped from squad, they were poor last week and Rooney especially looked unfit. Glad Rafael is back to RB and Valencia to RW too. Also good to see Scholes being replaced by Anderson as we'll need to be hustling and battling in the midfield more, we will be open, though.

EFC XI

Howard, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Neville, Gibson, Naismith, Piennar, Fellaini, Osman, Jelavic

Nev at right back. Naismith out wide with Ossie in the middle. Mirallas is on the bench too.

Rooney just looked completely off the pace so it's a good move, I wouldn't say it points towards a regular occurrence or anything but he just didn't look fit or up to playing.

I said to my mate 3-0 Everton, we're utter cack. Delfouneso starts for once which is a good move, shame we're about as useful as a limp parsnip at going forward. WTF at Swansea, 0-5 and now 3-0, that's some start for a team I predicted to go down :(

I'm saying 0-4.... Width and pace for once! :) Naismith, Pienaar, Fellaini and Jelly to all score.

I would have thought Rooney would be given game time against the lesser sides

We're weak at the back with the injuries and can't really afford to be having an attacker that isn't putting a good shift in, we need them to be making up for the issues at the back at the moment and Rooney seems terribly unfit and off the pace.

Plus, I wouldn't say Fulham are one of the 'lesser' sides, they aren't a bad side at all. Young gives a slight bit more protection down the left side as well.
