Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [24th - 28th October 2014]

Berahino is too good for West Brom but not good enough for one of the clubs that would likely be able to afford him. Tough situation to be in, continue playing for a bottom half team or sit on the bench for one of the big boys.

5-10 years ago he'd be perfect for a proper top side who rotated sensibly. Like today had he been at Arsenal he would have played, and been a sub in many of the big games. I thought he looked really promising last year, kind of hoped we'd buy someone like him, I'd have bought him ahead of Welbeck without question. But Wenger is a moron, Campbell should have appeared more already and be starting games like today's but he's barely had a look in. Likewise Podolski should be starting games like today. Managers aren't rotating that well anymore, then you get this situation where some player gets injured being played too much but the back up comes in and looks crap because he's not started a game in 6 months.

Then you have your Chelsea/City types who just buy star quality even in backup/rotation positions, they don't really need to bother having a guy with good potential, they'll just buy them a few years later if they prove to be good enough.

I wouldn't be surprised if Everton, Spurs, Southampton, those types of teams when after him next summer. Spurs might be desperate enough for goals to try and get him in Jan and ship out Soldado if they can't get him firing again by then.

0-0. What a carp game - also going to weep now by watching Real vs Barca.

I have a bad feeling Suarez will score or do something important to a win but honestly I would love to see a Woodgate style debut for him. Score an own goal, then injure himself doing some mental tackle that gets him another 5 month ban.

EDIT:- wtf, sky are showing it live from 5.15pm.... but missing the first 15 minutes, how retarded is that.

Toothless performance from us. Given the lack of goals our forwards have come up with so far this season, to start with Gerrard sitting with Can & Allen either side didn't make sense. There was no creativity or drive from midfield and you couldn't see where a goal was coming from. Balotelli was left isolated and it seemed like we were relying on Lallana or Sterling to create something out of nothing. Things improved when Coutinho and Lambert came on but it was too little too late.

Should have had a pen in the first half and had a shout for one in the second half but we can't be relying on that, we've got to get that spark back into our attack.

it made sense because you got a clean sheet, the defence needs baby sitting right now

'Supporters not Customers'

Great sentiment

Ah right.
I didn't think they would've after that thoroughly factually incorrect 'survey' the BBC published recently.

Song looks twice the player he was at Arsenal! Barcelona seems to have done him a world of good.

No discredit to Song who did play well yesterday (for the 3/4 of the match I saw anyway) but there are a few factors which have to be accounted for

1) Anyone coming from Barca to West Ham SHOULD be looking good on their worst day lol

2) After not playing much for a few seasons, he is probably happier just playing regularly (and actually moderately liked by the fans helps Im sure)

3) He is a bigger name now than he ever was at Barca, and even Arsenal to a certain extent, compared to his team mates lets see if he can do it week in , week out
