Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 27th Feb 2012]

Cheets that is no worse than a lot of the banter in here :/

You love to play the victim when it's directed at you but then quite happily dish it out.

So instead of Cheets bashing (who for the record seems to more or less demand it from some threads) anyone watching motd? Pards back on to urm talk about how someone was "raked" :D

More importantly Holt looking a fairly decent prem striker this season despite playing for Shrewsbury 4? seasons ago...

Yeah just saying I dont rise up to it, its only words, doesn't bother me, going watching Wigan and watching live football hear a lot worst said on these forums :D

I'm not sure about that. He gets just as much **** thrown his way as he dishes out and generally takes it far better than a lot of others do.

Anything he gets is usually a result of people being aware of who he is, what his opinions are and how happy he is to mock various people and teams. There is always going to be added context to what he says.

There's no doubt that he brought much of it upon himself. A normal Wigan fan wouldn't be given a second thought on here, and people would be happy to discuss things with them.

As I've said in my previous post, it would be nice if there could be a bit of an attitude change in general on here (I'm no angel either, I know) and I'd be happy to talk it out with people instead of constant arguments that are ultimately getting a bit tiresome.

I can't say I've noticed cheets mock members. Teams, yes but not members.

I've said before, I'm not too sure why people get so upset with cheets. He dislikes Utd and he gives them ****, so what? Maybe it's because it's not directed at Liverpool that I don't think he does too much wrong or whether I tolerate that sort of thing more than others, I don't know. We've got posters on here (yes, you Azza :p) that post their fair share of anti Liverpool/pro-'whoever Liverpool are playing' stuff on here and I can honestly say it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Like Andy says, if you're that bothered by what cheets says, ignore him. Providing cheets is happy to get stick back, I'm not sure what the problem is.

The problem with cheets is simple, his posts follow a very strict 4 point plan

Talk about how he goes to games and others dont
Talk about how he supports the team that's located in the same area code as him and others dont
Talk about Rooney elbowing a Wigan player and getting away with it a year ago
Talk about Man Utd

He offers nothing but the above and tbh once you've read it once that's all you really need to ever hear from him.

His usual party trick of implying people aren't real fans would surely count as mocking. I'm sure there are a lot of other examples as well, in fact, I know there are but I don't wish to waste my time finding them.

He's far more volatile than Azza, and yes, it's mostly anti-Manchester United remarks that he makes so it's bound to annoy some people more than others. I don't think the two are comparable.

His posts seem to be exclusively limited to Man Utd related things for the most part. Maybe he's a secret fan in denial?

He also rarely speaks to a single person directly, which makes his remarks appear aimed at an entire group of fans rather than any single person in particular.

Like Andy says, if you're that bothered by what cheets says, ignore him. Providing cheets is happy to get stick back, I'm not sure what the problem is.

I don't feel the need to ignore him. Ultimately, I don't care what he says either, but it does seem to detract from the forum quality in general.

I'd hate for this forum to become several groups of RedCafe/RAWK degenerates arguing over stupid things, which is what happens at times. I don't ever go on forums like that because I just think it's annoying.

This for me as well tbh. Generally whenever I see a cheets post I just rather quickly scroll past it. He's not even worth the effort of putting on ignore.

Na, thats just you

Mhm couldn't call that either way tbh as teams seem to react either with a massive boost or a massive hangover - it can't be ideal that the 'Pool players played ET as well though.

Tees it up for a cracking weekend of footy next weekend though!

Again, I don't know why this bothers people so much. It's banter. I've joked about Utd fans all being from London on here plenty of times (and no, I'm not from Liverpool).

Fair enough, it might annoy some people but it's not a big deal. As said, if it annoys you, ignore him.

Also, the fact that he doesn't aim his posts at individuals and instead at Utd (for example), surely makes it less offensive. It's not a crime to dislike Utd.

If it doesn't bother you (not you specifically) then don't complain about him. I've found some of cheets' "arguments" with Utd fans funny because it's been friendly banter (or seemed that way anyway), it's only when it becomes personal and the snide comments come out that it starts damaging the forum.

Maybe cheets can tone it down slighty but he can't argue with himself so if you (again, not you personally) take exception to what he says, ignore him. If it doesn't bother you then throw a bit of **** (in a friendly way of course) back.

Sorry I forgot Wigan only usually have their mascot turn up for support ;)

Cheets is their mascot!

That's all fair enough, it's very clear though that Man Utd fans do take exception to what he says far more than they would to what you say. This is likely due to the added context that I mentioned earlier and the way he puts his points across.

This isn't just demonstrated in here though, if you look at his posts in the GD thread he linked earlier you can see that his posting style provokes very harsh reactions because of how he formulates his posts.

I don't personally see the majority of his posts as friendly banter, he doesn't give off that impression. You, on the other hand, often do.
