Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26 - 29th April 2013]

Lucky to get a point really, which I'd have taken a before the game. Our record against United is dire in recent years, and our last three games are winnable. We were always going to have to rely on other people's results, so Chelsea vs Spurs in particular could be a defining game.

That'll do. RvP stuck it to the boo boys. :p

Was worried for the first half an hour but Arsenal couldn't keep it up as I suspected.

**** me what a scrappy game, we were on top until that muppet Sagna decided to gift Utd a penalty.

Anyhow i said at the start of the game, id be happy with a draw. Just a shame we couldnt make it 3 pts today :/

Think that every point is going to count for the CL spots so Arsenal have to be fairly happy with that.

How have we won the league with valencia nani and young

Only god knows but with a little help from City and other teams, you just cruised to the title. Plus having RVP score majority of your goals helped a lot, Rooney hasnt scored many this season so count your lucky stars that you have RVP as hes been the difference this season:p.

Exactly, would have been more happier with 3 pts but a point is good enough especially against Utd, who we just cant seem to beat. Think in the past 11 seasons, we have managed to beat them a measly 4 times .

A point behind Chelsea and 2 ahead of Spurs and those 2 have much tougher games to play than us especially with Chelsea being pre-occupied with Europa League:p

Fingers crossed we get max points now from our remaining games.

We have QPR away, Wigan at home and Newcastle away - absolutely need 9 points from these.

Chelsea have United away, Spurs at home (game in hand), Villa away and Everton at home - hard to tell but that's three big games, a team fighting for survival and European football.

Spurs have Southampton at home, Chelsea away (their game in hand), Stoke away and Sunderland at home - other than Chelsea I can see them winning all 3 as well, unless there's some sort of mad Di Canio effect on the last day of the season. Wouldn't that be lulzy?

It's going to be horribly close.

I'll say it again, why do we care, without champs league football we either ignore the Europa league giving youth players a shot(something Wenger point blank refuses currently) and have a better shot at the league(lol) or more realistically the domestic cups, or we genuinely have a go at Europa.

Seriously why do we care about the half million 4th gets over 3rd, the 5-10million more champs league gets over Europa league?

None of our players are now good enough to force a move out to get to a champs league club, Wilshire arguably but he's at least 3 years from being so pee'd off with Wenger he forces his way out, Podolski might be off either way, and Santi, well, Santi was utterly useless today and I think for someone pushing the higher wages in the squad he's annonymous too often, shines against the Readings/Newcastles, struggles when put under serious pressure.

Who will we lose without champs league, no one, who can't we sign without champs league, no one we can currently get anyway, 5-10mil less income... essentially insignificant to Arsenal's finances. I don't give a crap about 4th, I care about improving as a team full stop, league position has nothing to do with the team improving, or getting worse. A full change in our system, getting in a new defensive coach(or manager preferably), changing half the side and starting fresh would likely see us do worse for a while before improving, I have no problem with that.

4th has no meaning beyond Wenger and Sky telling us that the champs league means everything, almost as bad as Sky/BBC/papers insisting international football is the pinacle and somehow brilliant... despite being pretty crap and boring to watch most of the time.

AS for today, while Utd didn't turn up in the first half we were decent but ultimately weren't creating great chances and scored a clearly offside goal. Second half Utd were clearly better, had some great chances and we didn't create an awful lot. Walcott was utterly useless outside the first 5 minutes, though I did see him challenge for a header in the middle of the park, and even beat someone on the wing(though he didn't win the header and lost it with a crap pass right after beating Evra... still for him, impressive :p ).

Sagna, brain dead moron, out of position, chasing back and giving away a penalty, should clearly have been sent off, not sure who I'm most mad at, the Sagna or Wenger for being given a lifeline with no second yellow and refusing to bring Jenks on. Sagna was crap defensively, crossing was abysmal, a red card waiting to happen.... Jenks is better defensively, offensively and just less of a ****... and the simple fact Sagna is gone, Jenks has barely played since the early part of the season. We want him to have games, experience and form before next season, wasting games on a WORSE player who isn't going to be part of the team next year is insane.

Mertesackers dive was a bit embarrassing to get RVP a yellow card :(

Courtesy of Sagna giving you a penalty:p. Still think Arsenal could have gotten 3 points had Sagna not been a muppet and brought down RVP in the box.
