Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 30th January 2019]

No... The referee cut Man City's throats - one goal that should have been accepted and one non-existing penalty ruined the entire game and not fair.
Well I accept the two goals for Newcastle and one for City.
Sigh, the classic line from Bazzy B when someone says something nasty about his team.
lol not at all. As you know, I've always questioned who you support, suspecting you're an Evertonian but you won't tell me.

I’ve actually told you before, not that you would have cared to remember. Anyway it’s more fun this way.
Really? I can only remember asking you but you refusing to tell me, only saying it was worse (what could be worse, I don't know). Anyway, I'm only ****ing about, I'm in too good a mood to get annoyed with anybody tonight.

In all seriousness I’d much prefer Liverpool to win it over City, but I think even Liverpool fans will always have that nagging doubt until it happens.

@Tombstone was calling a 1 point gap going into tomorrow’s game at about the 60th minute mark of the Newcastle - City game :p

Great link. It clearly shows the ref telling him to wait for the whistle :D

Come on stig, you love it.

Hahahahaahaha, imagine posting that and misinterpruting it so poorly.

If anything City's goal came from emptying the keeper in a dangerous exchange

Of course. Even now I'm thinking we're going to need City to drop points in one of their next 3 games. Had we been in a race with any side it would be nervous because it's been so long but you know this City side are capable of winning their remaining games.

no, he was getting into position the point of a quick free kick is to take it quickly

A quick free kick can be taken by the attacking side in any situation without notifying the referee either verbally or visually and after ensuring there is a distance of at least 10 yards from an opposition player so as not to block the movement of play.

Yeah, I was (I thought in vain) trying to tempt fate. Looks like it worked though ;D

At least one plus is that City have Arsenal and Chelsea at the start of Feb. Potential for point droppage there maybe.

The ref told him he had to wait for the whistle. If he hadn't then what you've quoted applies but he did so it doesn't. Great officiating, just a shame he didn't send him off later.

Yep, hence why I said the next 3 games. City will only have Spurs and Utd to play after those games but saying that, it's been games like today that are costing them.

"great officiating" LOL

A quote from Graham Poll

There is nothing in the laws of the game that say we have to indicate for the free-kick to be taken.

as I posted earlier it was a quick free kick

Graham Poll doesn't know how many yellow cards equals a red but what he's said is right, albeit partly. As the ref in the BT Sports studio explained, KdB had the opportunity to take a quick free-kick right up until the point that he was told to wait for the whistle but didn't and when he didn't the ref clearly tells him to wait for the whistle while he gets in position for the anticipated cross that was coming. He then took the free-kick having not waited for the whistle.

he shouldn't have to wait for the ref as its a quick free kick.
