Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 30th January 2019]

he shouldn't have to wait for the ref as its a quick free kick.
The rules say otherwise. Just searching your Graham Poll quote and you will find that although players don't generaly have to wait for the referee's whistle, they do if instructed by the ref because of the following reasons:

1. To card somebody
2. For a physio to treat a player
3. If the attacking team wants the 10 yards measured out
4. The ref wants to slow the game down.

In this case, the ref tells KdB to wait for the whistle presumably because he wants to slow the game down while he gets into position :)

what a joke poor officiating, anything to help Liverpool ...

Duncan Castles has been fairly quiet of late but the shameless egg just couldn't help himself tonight:

Manchester United have been two goals down at home twice this season. They made a much more radical tactical change last time - and won...

Rules are rules stig and you almost sound like you think it's a bad thing if Liverpool win. It will be good for football.

yh ok... what's the point of a quick free kick if you can't exploit a slow/unprepared defense because the ref wants to slow the game (time waste)

As explained, he had the opportunity to take it quickly but he didn't. The ref then tells him to wait for the whistle as he's turning his back on the ball to get into position, not time waste as you put it.

I really shouldn't be indulging you like this because we both know it's going to get you in trouble when the F1 season starts again :p ;)

seems like a cop-out, KDB saw an opportunity to take a quick free-kick and took it that's what a quick free kick should be

Then it is not a free kick. If you put an ultimatum if or if...
That decision killed the impulse of the game and in the end the anti-football won.

I hope Newcastle get relegated. Next season to Championship, the season after First League..

;)

I've no idea what you're trying to say

Bloody shame that's not the rules :p

I know you're not going to agree under any circumstances but the rule makes perfect sense too. As soon as KdB doesn't take the free-kick quickly, the ref then needs to get into a position to watch the free-kick being taken and see what's going on in the box. He has to tell KdB to wait for the whistle because otherwise he can't get into position to do that and what's ended up happening is KdB taking the free-kick with the ref not even looking. How does the ref know the free-kick has been taken legally and or what's gone on in the box from the free-kick?

Because billions obtained from violating human rights is what football is truly about.

£40m team > £500m team. I'd be fuming, too.

he isn't the only official on the pitch to see what kdb is doing etc, they have two linesmen and the fourth official

Yes but he's the main man and can't allow the game to continue when he's not looking.

Anyway stig I'm off to bed. One thing we'll agree on is that we want a big Liverpool win tomorrow.

I'd probably say that having a country spend over a billion pounds on players and cheat FFP rules is anti-football tbh.

Silva completely wiped out the GK, lucky to even have that given tbh.

At least one plus is that City have Arsenal and Chelsea at the start of Feb. Potential for point droppage there maybe.
arsenal could catch up with city. we are only 9points behind them. beat them next and win the other plus city losing to both arsenal and chelsea and where reeling them in
