Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th February - 3rd March 2016]

Man United level with City, West Ham 1 point off, Stoke 5, Liverpool 6 with a game in hand and Chelsea only 8 and the form team in the league.

What a ****** up season.

Come on now.. You're only 6 points behind us with 10 games left. Honestly...I know bipolar tendencies are part of the average footy fans psyche but the Gunners take it to a whole new level.

I thought they had won the title when they beat us 2-1?

How the hell do you expect us to have any chance the way we are playing atm? It's an utter disaster. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm so glad I've got a cat because I need something to kick up the arse.

It's not that we demand a title, it's that the reason we aren't winning the title this year are basic problems that have been problems within the team for the past 6-7 years. Had we fixed any of the glaring problems we probably would walk the league this year. It's that Wenger has point blank refused to fix any of Arsenal's problems for so long that even when every one of our main rivals is ****.... we still make a hash of it.

Flamini and Arteta shouldn't be employed by Arsenal and shouldn't have been for 2 years. Both should have been replaced because they desperately needed to be replaced. Rosicky should have been shown the door 4 years ago, Diaby should have been shown the door 6 years ago, Walcott should have been shown the door 5-6 years ago, Ox should not have been bought, neither should Welbeck. If those players were gone or not brought and the players needed were bought in instead Arsenal would be a significantly better and stronger side.

Most importantly Wenger should have gone 5 years go. Arsenal fans have been kicked over and over with Wenger's arrogance for the best part of a decade... tonight is just A.Nother massive kick in the balls.

Why are other teams poor though? You mention several players but you fail to recognise that other top teams have players that are like that. It's not just Arsenal. You can't have 25 world class players. The fans are shooting themselves in the foot really, tonight was a great chance to get 3 points behind the leaders and they just werent there for the team.

It's terrible isn't it. Like completely insane.

It would make my day if Guadiola took over Man City without champions league football :D.

That would be funny - but they still have a game in hand (against CP?)

If Utd (or West Ham /Stoke/ etc) are to get in the CL places it will be if Arsenal drop further points

City have a better sqaud than Arsenal which is why I personally think they will end up above them

heh i was hoping west hams win would've put pressure on utd but now utd's win can put pressure on city. ranieri must be grinning from ear to ear

String of bad results for us, I think that is the league out of reach now as I just don't see us beating Spurs at the weekend, especially how we've been playing. I'm losing faith in Wenger, but in all honesty I don't know who else is out there for us at the moment? I wish Klopp had never gone to Liverpool, I just can't think of another manager that would be the correct fit for us. Pellegrini will be available in the summer but he has hardly set the world alight with Man City, and he has had endless buckets of money to spend.

Wenger won't leave. The board won't sack him because he's still bringing in enough lolly to prop silent Stan up and his keep his yank football teams in new stadiums.

We are being taken for utter mugs.

Other teams have players off the boil, but this is ONE year for them, this is EVERY year for us. Mourinho is a bad manager who IMHO basically criticises and shouts to motivate players, in the short term they work harder, in the long term they lose motivation, aren't training well and become too intimidated by a shouting manager to even try anything. That team looked seized up from fear of what manager would say about a loose pass, with that criticism and black cloud removed they are one of the most in form teams in the league with the best players playing at their best.

Utd are in a rebuilding phase, have half the team out injured in any given week on top of that and new managers and new players to deal with. It's neither a settled squad nor a finished rebuild. Liverpool are under new management, rebuilding and need to do it again after buying mostly the wrong players. City have lost away form and have a semi crock yet brilliant striker and CB. An ageing central mid who WILL be replaced and years of not good enough buys filling out the team.

Arsenal are the only team with a manager who has been in charge for what, more than 3 years let alone a decade. None of these managers had control of ALL decisions in the past decade. None of the other managers chose EVERY SINGLE PLAYER, had complete control of the youth setups, the buying, the budgets, re-signing bad players, buying most of the bad players.

Wenger is in the same situation as exactly not a single other manager in the league, nor in the german or Spanish leagues. He is solely responsible for how the squad is, he's not taking over another managers mistakes, every mistake is his own. He has also purposefully ignored the fans, pundits, everyone who has pointed out the biggest problems. Every single other person in europe saw not buying another DM to be a major major problem, Wenger thought it was fine.

Wenger broke the bank to give Walcott even more money a week to be utterly worthless.

For once I totally agree with you. This cannot be allowed to continue.

I'm just waiting for the next 2-3 week long implosion, at which point that'll be it.

We have got two win able games coming up then City away. That will be the cruncher. Look at the team United fielded today and the injuries we have. Hopefully now the players will start trickling back in and Rooney can stay injured for longer!

Break the bank and get simeone

If we pick up a guy like Simeone it changes the whole footballing ethos we have, I was hoping for somebody to continue Wengers work, a team playing attractive football... but paper over the weaknesses a bit. I just don't know who that man is.
